What tracks have you driven on

The Ring is readily accessible and multiple businesses on site rent cars. It is treated as a toll road much of the time but demands serious respect. Many people die on it every year. It is a must drive for any serious track ******. I recommend several hours of sim time in advance, as it will...

What tracks have you driven on

Spa (went in May and it could be my favorite track ever; Eau Rouge, Blanchemont and Pouhon are epic very high speed corners that simply don't exist in the US - Eau Rouge is sort of like I imagine the dip must have been at Road America, only it finishes steeply uphill so can be entered flat with...

VOI 13 COTA - Track plans

My thoughts on scheduling, as a racer, DE enthusiast, and founder of Apex Driving Academy. First, I almost never see any DE, track event, or test day with sessions in excess of 30 minutes. Even Chin when it goes to COTA will have 30 minute sessions. For races, unless they are enduros, 20-40...

    Rumors...what's the dealio?

Wow I did not know about all this drama. I will say that once a club's management starts being paid for services or anything else from club revenues, motives can change. It appears that the manufacturer of our cars is upset enough to write a very unpleasant letter and if VCA wants the letter...

    Car&Driver:ZR1 beats the Viper...again

It seems clear that in the hands of a professional with no real Viper experience and several C&D editors, that The Gen V, as tested, could not be driven as quickly as the ZR1, as tested, on the track. From a marketing perspective, that is definitely not very good. I suspect that the Viper has...

    In Memoriam: Doug Azzarito

I somehow missed and posted this in error in Gen V, but I think it more correctly belongs here With sadness I report the recent death of Doug Azzarito, who struggled mightily with cancer and did not make it to 2013. Those who have been around a long while will remember him as one of the core...

    In Memoriam: Doug Azzarito

With sadness I report the recent death of Doug Azzarito, who struggled mightily with cancer and did not make it to 2013. Those who have been around a long while will remember him as one of the core creators of this forum back in 1997 or so (it seemed earlier). I have personally stayed in some...

Vipers looking for revenge at The Ring Today!!!

As a pure coincidence, I was at the 'Ring for the first time 2 weeks ago and I can safely say that track familiarity is more important than ultimate raw skill. There are over 150 turns, 13+ miles, and about 1000 ft of elevation changes. My sim (GT5) time and video watching did very little to...

My 08 ACR to ACRX Conversion

If Tom can't provide it I have most of it (I am not 100% current)

My 08 ACR to ACRX Conversion

I respect your approach as well, just wouldn't do it that way. Also, ask Tom for all ACRX manuals and tech bulletins. There are important life cycle items and things to check This is the year I learn to fly so focusing on that. flying is tons cheaper than racing

My 08 ACR to ACRX Conversion

Very impressive but I have to say the out of pocket had to be higher than an X. Even buying at 20k off an ACR is 88k and an X in primer is 115K. We put a lot of parts on the #90 X last year and they are pricey. I simply can't believe a cage, arrow engine, suspension, body bits (canards are...

    ACR X dyno run

very nice! The torque is so flat it does not feel peaky so the power is deceptive, but peak speeds on track and lap times tell the story as well

Paxton or Turbo Boosted Progressive Water / Methanol Injection Kits

Aquamist makes an inline FLOW meter for W/M injection systems that could be retrofit to actually see water flow. Even then, however, if you hade a loose fitting or leak, water could be flowing, just not into the engine.
