Ferrari? What Ferrari?

So I'm driving down a crowded and snooty part of town in my 97 GTS and come to a stop sign. There were many pedestrians crossing so it was a bit of a wait. Low and behold... the car in front of me was the Ferrari F430 Spyder. Beautiful car... and the hair-implanted guy driving it knew it. Soaking up the sun, shining that million dollar smile at every pretty lady that crossed the path before him.

In front of the Ferrari, I hear: "OH MY GOD!!!!!", startling everyone within earshot. The screamer, a boy about 10 or so started tugging his friends' shirts, trying to get their attention. He pointed past the Ferrari at me, and followed-up with, "A VIPURRRRRRRRR!!!!!!"

Everyone turned to look at the Viper, including Mr. Hair, who gave me a curled-lip smile and nod. I would pay money to see the look on his face when he first realized he wasn't the center of attention. The boys jumped up and down waving as I drove by. This time it was my turn to smile. If it wasn't such a crowded intersection, I would've given all of the boys a ride around the block. Not bad for a car at the fraction of the price of a Ferrari. :2tu:

I dont think you can even buy an F430 yet alone a spyder which has not even been officialy announced yet. Do you mean a 360 Spyder?

But anyways back to your point, yes the Viper is by far the most exotic looking car you can buy for the money and it can and will put many exotic cars to shame in gawk factor.

Then it probably is a 360. They look similar and he still had dealer plates on, so I assumed it was the newest model from Ferrari's website.

Two... and probably a comp coupe for the weekends. But he didn't. So at that intersection, I felt a little moral victory for my American built $70k(when new) sportscar. You won't get that in a vette.

Don't get me wrong, his car was beautiful and I wouldnt think twice if he wanted to swap pink slips at the intersection. But then, I'd probably sell it and buy myself two Vipers... and take the wife out to dinner everyday for the month with the change.

That's classic. It might have been different though if the guy had a Lamborghini instead of a Ferrari though.

I dont know if the 430 Spyder is officially out yet but I have seen one with dealer plates on it driving around my neck of the woods..

And that's exactly why the Viper will be very collectable someday. When those teen boys hit their 40's, are VP's and start inheriting $$ from their baby boomer parents, they will be ready to plunk down big $$ for the car of their dreams. GEN I & II Vipers. :2tu:

There was a segment on the Today Show a couple of weeks ago showing an Ferrari dealership located in a hotel lobby in Vegas, and the dealer said they had just had their F430 Spyder flown in from Italy a couple of days before and it was the only one in the country. There might be a couple more out there somewhere, but my guess is it was a 360.

What's vain about having three vipers...1 GTS, 1 RT10, and 1 SRT10. Of course, then you you could get a Gen 1 RT10, a Gen 2 RT10, a GTS, and a SRT10, for a total of four.

But then again, you could get a Gen 1 RT/10, a Gen 2 RT/10, a GTS, a GTS ACR, and a SRT10, for a total of five.

But then again you could get.....

Probably not a fair comparison, but... Greg Nelson of Nelson Dodge was up to 20 before he decided to sell his collection to build a new exotic/high end dealership. He also is an authorized Lambo dealer and is building a facility just for the Lambo's and other high end stuff. This is the guy that was recently selling 94's, 95's, etc., etc. at MSO still with factory warranty.

Can't wait for the new facility to be done so I can cruise out there and "check out" what's on the lot.

Well that’s a tough one. I like the interior of the SRT but I like the lines of the RT much better. I thought I wanted a new one with the RT being 5 years old and I was going to sell it but I just can’t get around to selling it. I guess to answer your question I would have to say I like the RT 10 more. Now if I can just keep both I would be real happy. (Shipping back and forth is going to kill me)

Life is short. Keep em both, enjoy em both, ship em both (if you have to). Don't forget, you can't take it with you and the kids are still going to get more than they had before.

Kids? Who said anything about kids? Don't have any and if I did they can buy they're own like I did. (but if i did have some I would let them drive it)

I have found the same to be true. Last summer I cruised with a few Ferrari guys down to the beach and my car got more looks than all theirs. A bunch of teens even came up to me and said my car looked better. I was with a Ferrari 360 and 3 Ferrari F355s.
