Havoline says no as do many other sources, which I believe to be accurate however with mine leaking at several solder joints, I am curious if my experience is better, the same, or worse than similarly aged and mileaged (30K over 15 years) Vipers using conventional coolant.
A completely...
Could be - at the time I wanted OEM or as close to the OEM look as possible and X2 was the only option I could find. I did check with Jon B & Chuck first. Never thought about checking with Cory.
Will finally install it in a few weeks.
Curious - how many of GENI or early GENII rads have leaked...
Straight through louvered tubes as I remember. Look though one end to the other, same as the rear muffler though the muffler does have the glass fibers behind the louvered tubes. Not sure if the resonators do or not. Never cut one of those babies open.
Sorry guys, still running my repaired OEM unit as Al recommended. Unfortunately for me, the OEM unit now has a slight leak on the opposite side from before so it's probably time to make the change and have the OEM unit recored. Not because the core is corroded, but because the solder joints are...
I can only share my experience and I find ATF+4 to be a better shifting fluid at any temperature.
As far as wear protection, I'm not qualified to answer. I can say that from what I read, ATF+4 is the best of the ATF fluid types (not speaking of specific brands) and significantly better than...
Well said Steve - Thanks for the detailed explaination. It's been a while but yes, the Borg Warner guys (who designed and manufactered the T-56's until 1998 when the design was sold to Tremac) stated the the paper lined syncros of the very early units weren't Castrol Syntorque (Mopar Synthetic...
In 1998 you can use either. It was earlier GENI's that had potential issues with the Mopar Synthetic Gear Lube. I have a 1996 and have used both but prefer the ATF+4 as it's better shifting and cheap enough to justifying changing out every year.
I'm sure Steve will be back in the morning to...
Bill is certainly one of the people that should be in the know. That said, what IS the horsepower difference and what competitors would be concerned about a (guessing) 15HP difference on a 450 horsepower car? Wouldn't Dodge market a power increase versus prior years help increase the sales of...
Tom's 40mm rear calipers provide great balance. That's the purpose of them in fact. Check out his web site. Lots of good stuff there....

Not sure how the trans can jump out of gear while in neutral, but the Porsche board comment was most likely based on the pansy complaint of "neutral gear rattle" in early GENII's.
The issue was "solved" by changing the factory fill from Dexron 3 ATF to a heavier Mopar Synthetic Gear Lube...
Perhaps they don't. All that matters is that they make at least 450 at the flywheel. Perhaps 1996 ~ 1999 make more and are underrated at 450.
While absolutely not scientific, I ran many a dyno day and on average saw the earlier GENII's having 10 ~ 20 more RWHP then later years stock versus...
The poor 1996 keeps getting bashed - The stanchion issue was a 1996 & 1997 issue and was because of the side glass being too tall not the stanchion. The Dodge "fix" included new side windows that were notched to relieve the stress on the weatherstriping. A little creative gluing fixes the...
Straight from ASC, the company that painted all of the GENII body panels, (don't know about GENI), AKZO Nobel was the only brand of paint used for the entire car with the exception of (as I remember) 1998 where they tried PPG for a while but reverted to AKZO Nobel. Sikkens is the retail brand of...
AKZO Nobel Sikkens is the original paint manufacturer and matches exactly. I had replacement side sills done twice, once Dupont then PPG and both weren't close. Switched to Sikkens and it was perfect.

For what it's worth.
My understanding is that all current X2 product has the inlet/outlet locations correct now.
Snake Oyl has the only Viper version I'm aware of, works great, relatively easy install and have never had a problem in 25,000 miles and 10 years of ownership on a 1996 GTS. If you drive long distances the GENII pedal offset almost requires one as a knee saver.
Done it. Weight savings yes and while well within the margin of error, I observed slightly less HP (1.7 as I remember) after the swap. Hardly worth the effort. Go big if you're going to go.
Maybe a repeat but what the heck - The factory rear muffler is just two straight pipes, perforated with glass fiber packing in the oval body. They are not necked down or baffled. I know, I cut one open. While replacing with straight pipes will change the sound tone and volume (and add drone...
Ed Combs, of Double Venom fame built that car for Jay. Ed was on this forum years ago, was based outside of Columbus, Ohio when I knew him and now I think is up in Michigan building Cobras with Viper engines, hence the name. A google search should track him down.... a very talented and friendly guy.
I can tell you what not to use. Bosch Platinum+4. My son had them in his 300M and just had a $2,500 repair bill after cylinder 1 ate two of the four electrodes.
