If we could all bottle our farts and release them on demand into the intake - we'd have an instant power spike. To maintain it - we'd need to eat a lot of beans and wash it down with plenty of American beer
The whole concept depends on regular supply - so we'd need to carry around a fart...
Re: VIPAIR™ Dyno Results on 99 RT 16 RWHP!!
Hey Vic and Joe - my 2 favourite Viperclub members :2tu:
I agree 100%. I think the Vipair definitely has the potential to add power at speed, it certainly looks better than the stock airbox - but "I feel..." does not prove anything for...
Re: VIPAIR™ Dyno Results on 99 RT 16 RWHP!!
in honor of yet another thread on the subject - here is a ressurection of one of the longest threads ever
for the record - I and others have said it before - somewhere lost in here....lol FORGET DYNOS!!! The whole concept is going to work as speed...
while I have not used Turbonator I have used Hyclones which are a passive device that do a similar thing
I have found they have provided advantages in two cases:
1 - a turbo diesel with a convoluted OEM air intake tract. The hyclones brought in boost 500rpm earlier and definitely added power...
Love the concept.
Only criticisms are:
1 - the front looks too straight - especially where the stripes run down the facia... looks flat and lifeless. If the facia middle was moved forward - proud of the sides and rounded slightly (like the Gen 2 cars but not as pronounced) it'd look mean and...
lol - got your pm thanks and replied. Yeah - its great to see stuff done that is beyond the normal of the shelf parts. Good luck on your latest project!
lol - yeah those F1 babies won't run around the pits at 5mph and 1000rpm - i have heard how many rpms they need to take off without stalling - it's quite high.
An 800hp V10 NA motor could be made very drivable - it was just that this particular road race engine had a spec that made huge power...
that CDI 600 is interesting. I suspect the intake is the blockage.
no way stock TB's will flow 800 NA hp, but it makes a point for 95% of hot street motors.
Hey Tom
actually the engine was making 752lb/ft at 5600rpm ;)
Heavy cranks and flywheels etc still have to be turned, and taking weight off there has always been a help along with everything else you said. It's a lot easier to spin an 80lb crank to 8000rpm than a 100lb one in the same...
Some say 70mm TB's make no more power - but I've seen 2 x 100mm TB's work to the tune of 802hp at 5600rpm.
The trick is increasing cfm everywhere. If the stock TB's flow as much as the intake, heads, cam require - bigger ones will not help. But if you run bigger cams, heads etc - then...
I've seen 802hp at 5600rpm NA on race gas using 2 x 100mm throtle bodies, big heads, big headers, big custom intake and a cam with lots of overlap. To make a strong engine run street nice you should run AEM and low impedence injectors so it can be tamed at slow speeds.
It's all about cfm in...
Those pistons look REMARKABLY like the ones I had custom designed (in late 2003) for a specific engine where CP was asked to mirror the head chambers and build it for a 9:1 cr on a quench clearance of 0.0375" with stock chambers. Guess CP decided to make up a set for someone else... where's my...
Hey Joe - I have to agree
Even the carbon fiber bodied GTS-R race cars were 2750lbs - and carbon fiber is significantly lighter than aluminum strength for stength.
A sub 2600lb GTS would be gutted beyond recognition inside, and require extensive carbon fiber on the outside. Aluminum is...
Re: Updated CPE #\'s - yowee! 1385/1367
awesome results - be safe and enjoy!!
I'd be surprised if you get traction until the top of 3rd gear with the best of street rubber - 4th with normal rubber... in fact I think you could lay rubber in 4th at will....
rubber is a terrible thing to waste...
It's the middle of the night.
You're woken up or at least disturbed by realizing someone is on your property with searchlights. Your brain is not functioning yet but the adrenalin kicks in and you have a need to go and find out what the heck is going on out there on your own land.
You have a...
My acetone suggestion went into the kook file so I'm going to help you guys out for the sake of those that missed it
Those that believe me and act will be rewarded - the rest can laugh (prove they are right in their heads) and pay more for their fuel - either is cool with me.
My latest test...
If you want to improve the mileage without spending money on AEM etc - just get yourself a container of 100% acetone, a measuring container and a calculator. Add 0.2% by volume to each fill.
A lot of folk will jump up and down about this - especially those in the oil industry - you can safely...
Whether another Viper runs faster soon or not is one thing - but it's hard to imagine anyone else's Viper sounding better than the SVS RSTT...
The 1 mile roads used limit things quite a bit. When we ran over 200mph (1/4 mile) in a 3000lb car, the 1/8 speed was well over 170mph. Jr -...
Re: Gallardo\'s exhaust note made me jealous.
You can improve the sound - but to make a Viper sound as good as the Lambo you will need to change the firing order.
I believe AEM will allow that - but have no idea if that will require a complete remap from scratch or if changing the firing...
Bob - sorry for getting side tracked back there (someones post got me onto a hobby horse..) - it was not deliberate on your thread and it was rude of me not to congratulate you on your new upgrade!
Hope it is everything you wanted and gives you years of pleasure. They'er something else to drive...
well Tony - I'm not here to get credibility, I'm here because I like Vipers, to learn what I can, and to share what I can that might be helpful to someone.
I wasn't out to point the finger at any specific person(s) and will not be drawn into doing so. I did not say ALL tuners are hopeless...
Joe is right about DIY kits making TT more affordable and closer to SC pricing. However I do not see the delux packages coming down in price. Parts alone for a top quality TT setup could easily top $14k not including any engine work, or exhaust after the turbo, or engine management.
Factor in...
I watched Sal make 1000rwhp on a stock Viper motor right down to the stock stamped rockers. All it had was a twin turbo bolted up and AEM, then it ran to 20psi on a C16 mix.
Forget trying that on a Gen 1, and as has been said - after the year 2000 you will need forged pistons OR lower boost...
