I bet the guys at SRT and Riley are disappointed. Concerning SRT inexperience, that is a poor excuse bcz everyone knows it was Riley running the effort, not SRT. That is why Riley was contracted...to win. There is no inexperience there at Riley and plenty of rookie drivers have been on...
So the more I think about this car...it sure makes the current ACR/ACR-X look like one heck of a deal. Just sayin...pricewise. Great car, and I applaud the entry to the 'team' but is it priced too high?
Allen, 'unofficial times' are nothing but rumors...I've done an unofficial (stopwatch timed) 1:53 but I don't claim it...as for the ZR1, I say bring it on. ;)
So who wrote checks for the first GT3-R? Jim Stout looked like a cat who ate the mouse. ;) Maybe this is why we haven't seen any Gen V's at the NARRA events..these guys knew something better was coming..this car ends the debate about what's the best Viper track car. Way to go Riley...
Allan, sounds like you are definitely going in the right direction and having fun with your Gen V. Too stiff will lead to some oversteer for sure. I suspect you will want to keep the rear shocks a couple clicks softer than fronts in most situations unless this car handles like a Vette, which I...
Great, those cars will soon be in the used market killing everyone's resale value..on the plus side, what a ride if you need to make a quick trip to Vegas!
Most track cars never get driven in the rain (no rusty parts underneath), get constant regular and preventative maintenance, get driven by someone who is very attune to anything that is not right (so it gets adjusted or fixed). 2000 track miles is barely breaking in a Viper if its by an...
It seems like a long time ago that a GT car had a chance for an overall win at this race...now even the Viper is like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Did SRT have any T-shirts made up for the event? Or are they waiting to print up the LeMans 2013 'Winner' shirts? How about something like...
One typical track weekend on a set of tires? Personally, I think that's pretty weak tire wear but I have already said that I don't use a real aggressive camber setting. I do know some tracks which eat tires like that though. I think Allen should know what's typical tire performance at his...
With all the option possibilities, that's kind of dumbfounding...its a nice drive up the highway, but be sure to make a few detours and don't keep the pedal level the whole time. Putnam Park might be a nice little detour, and of course, Mid-O ;)
Maybe save some money and put some scrub slicks on it now (to get it dialed in)....I don't think the tires are causing it to bump and roll but if you have it dialed in with Hoosiers then put Corsas on it and you get the problem back you have your answer.
The range doesn't tell all..for eg, one click on the ACRX shocks is equal to three clicks on ACR shocks, and setup is clockwise instead of cc. Go in a positive direction. Here is a good article on bump steer. http://www.longacreracing.com/articles/art.asp?ARTID=13
Allen, I am sure Mark adjusted the bump steer after shock change? Also, is the front tire wearing more on the inside or outside shoulder? Personally I would start with less camber all around (try the settings I suggested above), check the bump steer, and see if you can 'neutralize' the handling...
Both great cars, very different 'attitudes.' One new owner here says the Gen V is the closest thing to a race car in street clothing he has ever driven (but I don't know if he's drive a Gen IV ACR), so you might like that. At a very minimum, take the new Viper for a test drive. Better yet...
