    Need Extended Warranty

I bought my 7/70K extended warranty from Bill Pemberton, and he gave me a really good price. As a side note, I have my can in to my Viper tech for some pre-Viper Days warranty service, and my tech noticed a problem with the steering. He's replacing the entire front steering rack - the cost of...

Is there a good place to buy tires online?

I just picked up a complete set of Pilot Sports from JonB at the PartsRack, and he was cheaper that Tire Rack (as of last week), and was able to answer some Viper-specific tire questions.

Viper Days - Willow Springs - Write-up (long, w/ pics)

Just asking in a general way about Kumho tires - didn't know if anybody had an opinion about them. Michelins it is - I'd already called Archer's about a price - just need to decide if I should put them on here or 1100 miles from now in Bakersfield. As to devil turns 3 and 4, after seeing the...

Viper Days - Willow Springs - Write-up (long, w/ pics)

The Green (rookie) group is by far the safest group to run in - passing zones are on strait track only, and the car you are passing has to point to let you go by. Your main risk is going to be trying to push beyond your abilities, or else just making a mistake when you are driving. I myself...

Viper Days - Willow Springs - Write-up (long, w/ pics)

My number was 68 - I was in the Silver/Blue car (one of three there) that didn't have permanent numbers. My tires had about 9,000 miles and 4 track days on them when I got there, and I'll need to replace at least the rears before I do anything else. I used the brakeman #3 pads, which were good...

Viper Days - Willow Springs - Write-up (long, w/ pics)

They make 315s, which fit and I've seen on some Vipers in SCCA.

5 point belts or 6 points????

I recently installed the TeamTech 6-point belts (PartsRack carries them at a very reasonable price), for both driver and passenger. I was very happy with them at Willow Springs, and would recommend them over the Simpson 5-points I had in there before. The 6-points are a bit less convenient for...

Viper Days - Willow Springs - Write-up (long, w/ pics)

For those who have never been to a Viper Days event, I thought I'd post a write-up and some pics of my excursion to the recent event in California. Apologies in advance for the length of the post. I'll post the pictures with captions first, and an account of the trip for those interested...

new oil pan, windage tray etc - advice pleae

I also had a windage tray and oil pan upgrade from JonB, installed last week by Cam over at Maltby Motorsports. As I recall, he did apply something to each of the 4 gasket corners, but I'm not sure what it was. I do know that he did not run a bead all the way around the gasket. Cam also...

ORECA driving suit for Viper Days

My guess would be about a 56 or 58 European - Olivier lives in Monaco. As I understand it, the suits are tailored to fit the driver. Olivier Beretta is, as I recall, somewhere around 5'10" to 6' tall, and around 180 lbs. I can't wear the suit because I have really big quads, but a more...

ORECA driving suit for Viper Days

Normally I would leave this in the classifieds, but I'm leaving early for Viper Days on Sunday, and want to make this opportunity available to anyone who might be going. I just received an autographed ORECA driving suit from Olivier Beretta from the 1998 season that unfortunately doesn't fit...

Now I'm ready for Viper Days:

Re: Now I\'m ready for Viper Days: This is also my first Viper Days, though not my first track day by any means. I ended up with the brakeman pads on JonB's recommendation because I went through the EBC reds so fast. Also, thanks for the offer of the Woodchuck, I'm sure I'll be able to help...

    96-98 GTS!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, I checked the classifieds and I couldn't find any '98s going for under 50. I think you could get a high-mileage car that cheap, but I doubt you could find a babied low-mileage car for anything less than 55. It looked to me like the range was around $50K - $60K for a...

Now I'm ready for Viper Days:

Re: Now I\'m ready for Viper Days: For brake cooling, I have the Porsche air deflectors. I may look at ducting air using some sort of airbox in the future, but I've found that the air deflectors work great and don't cost a mint. I have a set of street pads set aside for the trip back, I'm...

Now I'm ready for Viper Days:

Now I\'m ready for Viper Days: First Viper Days event is in 2 weeks, and the car's just about prepped: 1. Replaced old Simpson 5-point (driver with TeamTech 6-points (both). 2. Upgraded oilpan with baffles and upgraded windage tray. 3. Steel-braided brake lines, slotted rotors, new Motul...

    ac blowing hot air

I had this happen to my car - turned out that one of the A/C lines under the car got nicked on something sharp, and created a slow refrigerant leak. Some trace dye finally isolated the problem, and it was fixed under warranty.

License Plate Cover for 2001 RT/10

As for bolts, JonB at PartsRack.com carries some seriously cool looking Viper-logo license plate bolts. Not sure of the price, but the pictures I've seen of them look really neat. A

    Bedding in track pads

Thanks for the advice, everybody. It sounds like the concensus is to bed the pads in up here where I live (Seattle), drive to California on my regular street pads, then swap them out down there. A

    Bedding in track pads

I have a new set of track-only pads (from Parts Rack, of course), that I'll be taking with me down to Viper Days. My question is, should I bed the pads in before the 800 mile drive to Willow Springs, put in street pads and make the drive, then re-swap the pads when I get there... OR drive...
