Gen 2 doors not staying open?

I had to do mine years ago and decided not to change the hinge but just the check stap. basically i drilled out the rivet holding the 2 spring metal plate on both the car hinge and the new one, tapped the hole were the rivet was and bolted on the new spring metals. One big advantage of doing it...

    170 degree thermostat ?

The statement on the website ( Our 170 degree thermostat allows the engine to operate cooler) is very misleading. A Tstat only control the minimum coolant temperature, not the maximum. Maximum coolant temperature is controlled by the BTU capacity of the cooling system.

Brake upgrade for Gen II. Recirculating fluid?

Hi Tom: hard to say since I did it at the same time than a major brake upgrade on my 69 race Mustang, 13" rotor, Wilwood 6 pistons calipers, air ducts, Motul 600, etc. Water cooling is easy and cheap to do, is proven to work (I have it on my Roush Mustang T/A) and can be dialed in by...

How Big a Job is a Battery Replacement on a GTS ?

I believe that a lot peoples think that by doing so, you're disconnecting the + side of the battery, beside the fact that, as Chuck said it's safer to do it at the battery, it's not even true since tjhere is another + connection just above the battery for the fuel pump and amplifier relays

    thermostat bleeder plug removal tool

I also have this set but it don't work without removing the intake manifold, there is not enough clearance for the diameter of the socket. As you can see the oil galley tool has a adjustable 2.5" long bit and you need about 2" to be above the front intake manifold runner and have room for the...

You really don't want cruise ...

not to argue with you but a few things don't make sense ( to me at least) If the tires loose contact with the pavement, not only will the car not be able to accelarate due to this same lack of contact/traction between tires and pavement but as the wheels spin faster the speed sensor will inform...

    Considering buying a 2000 RT/10 Have questions

better brakes or not you're dreaming if you think that you can drive a Viper to it's full potential on public roads. Most drivers can't even do it on a road course. It's true that the main problem with the brakes is the front right (passenger side) wheel locking up under hard braking which...

    How to clean fuel tank?

I thought that it was the opposite with the RT having a removable fuel tank closeout panel and the GTS requiring to cut a big opening and instaling a service closeout panel afterward? But I also believe than on the RT you need to remove the tank to acess the fuel module where on the GTS there is...

    pushstart wiring diagram needed

As an ex member, current Viper owner and long time poster ( about 9 years) , I can remember when the how-to were "public" and why the VCA decided to change this policy. This site will have lot less traffic and therefore advertising income, if it was for members only. Everyone that post on this...

What are GTS-ACR Fog Light Covers?

Tom; Thanks for the very interesting link. The airflow was exactly what i was expecting, the front of the viper is slightly V shaped and obviously, fluid taking the path of least resistance ,the air on both side of the grill opening has no choice than go left and right. BUT, the viper on the...

What are GTS-ACR Fog Light Covers?

I have heard that b4 but, due to the amount of bugs that i always find on the foglights, I'm not so sure about it. If I had air ducts going to the rotors instead of the foglights I imagine that the bugs would end up on the rotors. maybe I don't quite understand your comment about "at speed". Do...

    Interesting article about Chrysler

I guess there will always be some conspiracy believers. I don't know the details of Chrysler list but the only dealer that was closed im my area was a stand-alone Jeep dealer that may be in a good year was selling 30 cars. There is 1 Dodge dealer 10 miles from him that do a lot more volume and...

My Viper, like many other seat lower on the rear driver side (about 1/4"). I changed the shock/spring from side to side with no change so i want to jack up the driver side by putting a shim/spacer between the coil and cap. The shop manual show both the shim and cap but I can't find ant parts #...

Using Stoptech Big brakes on a 2000 GTS

good thread, here are some technical info on calipers and the reason for multi pistons and different sizes bore/diameter Obviously the caliper piston job is to press the pad on the rotor and therefore create fiction that translate in heat and braking. So why do some calipers have 1, 2, 4 ,6 or...

Using Stoptech Big brakes on a 2000 GTS

That's not normal, you need to find the problem before doing any brake upgrade or you could end up with the same issue. Check your brake power booster by doing the following: Run the engine for a few moments, then turn the key off. Once the engine dies, press the brake pedal a few times. You...

Using Stoptech Big brakes on a 2000 GTS

Pedal feel is very subjective but before doing anything I would make sure that your brake system is up to specs. Change brake fluid, inspects rotor and pads for glazing ( going over both rotors and pads with some fine sandpaper will be a good idea). I also have a 00GTS and have no problem with...

Using Stoptech Big brakes on a 2000 GTS

no doubt that Tom upgrade of the rear stock calipers is the best "bang-for-buck" solution, it's only downside being the lack of bling factor. Obviously since the stock Gen2 can lock the front wheels, there is no need for bigger caliper/more clamping force in front. Once you understand how brakes...
