    You mean while I have been enjoying my 2008 Viper for the last four years I have been losing money ? Knowing this why would anyone want to buy a Gen V ? Now that you mention it I think I have lost money on every new car I've ever bought. I hope my wife doesn't find out. :smirk:

    Thanks for the support guys. The ZR-1 is now gone. I am looking into something a little quicker. We might be king of the ring but we are tied for 3rd with the ZR-1 against the Turbo S (1) and the GTR (2) in the quarter mile.

    I have had both. It's the modded Gen IV over the supercharged Gen III. Though peak hp numbers are the same,the Gen IV delivers more power across the rpm band and keeps the hp up better between shifts. My supercharged Gen III gave me no problems for the 11K miles that I owned it. So reliability...

    I got one from either Jay Herbert or someone he knew that made them. I don't believe it is exclusive to BTR. It went with the car when I sold it more than ten years of use,no issues. Good luck in your search.

    RAYW=which ones did you have Tom's or ZAF's? Could you tell that they were just some cheap cover or did it actually look nice and like a real caliper?? ZAF. They look identical to the fronts. Mine were bolted to the pads.

    I had them on my 1998. They look identical to the fronts. Just need to be careful on the install that you don't overtighten them.

    You never know I may still have it when you're ready. Just listed it in the classifieds. I have had great luck on this site selling all my old cars. You won't go wrong with a Gen IV even if you don't get mine. IMHO.

    Original owner 2008,11,800 miles. Always garaged no accidents,scrapes or boo boos. Dealer installed mods. Headers,cats,mufflers,complete Unitrax rear w/3;55 gear,Mopar computer and K&N air filter. As steal at $69,900. Drive it for 2 years while you wait to get a GEN V.

    Well the ZR-1 has been gone for a couple of months now. Replaced it with a Jaguar supercharged XJL. So it ranks behind the Gen 4 for me. It is an excellent car in everyway except for exclusivity and value.

    In order of my preference: 1. Modified Gen 4. 2. Stock Gen 4 - Supercharged Gen 3 (tie) 4. Modified Gen 2 5. Stock Gen 3 6. Stock Gen 2 7. Gen 1 I have wanted,owned and loved them all.

    Kept my 1998 GTS for one year and my 2004 Supercharged SRT for two years after buying my 2008 SRT just to be sure. The GEN IV is the best factory Viper to date. NO regrets and out performs all other generations. Including GEN III's with a stock Paxton system. Not as pretty as the Gen II to look...

    Most at or close to invoice w/zero % financing. Getting over 115K for a new Viper even with a new group of buyers is going to be tough. To get my money it better have 700hp.

    My 2 cents. Headers,full exhaust,Mopar PCM,polish and port match the intake. You will make 615-630 rwhp or 675-700 flywheel hp. More hp than the tires can handle till you get into 3rd gear.

    Gen 4 Cracked Windsheild.

    Mine cracked same place before it was one year old. The guy from Safelite replaced it in my driveway. The support tab is the problem. Mine was directly on the glass. He put a small piece of rubber under it and 2 years later no problems.

    I have gotten used to the drive by wire and I am tolerent of it now. If you have only drive by wire autos the transition is easy. While I still had my GTS ,Gen III and Gen IV going back and forth I had to re-learn all the time. I also kept my other 2 Vipers for 1-2 more years until I was sure...

    The real answer is. When Dodge tried to add the traction control system in 2007 they wasted a whole model year during development. That is why 2007 has the least amount of production. It wasn't put on the 2008-2010 cars but will be on the next generation.
