Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
I have made my points. I don't need your acceptance. Currently a old saying comes to mind....If you argue with a fool you might look like a fool yourself.
It is up to Speedfreak to argue with you now. It's...
Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
I know that .31 is a long way off. I am sure he is planning to do more to the motor than what he has done so far. Remember the title of the thread? "Making progress towards the 10's".
So once again. Thanks...

He's not stock "now". When you made your statement about no stock GEN III beating the best time of the GEN II that was months ago when he was stock.
After running the best stock GEN III time ever. I guess...
Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
Actually you did say it. I am not going to search my Sunday away looking for it. It went somewhere along the line of "no stock GEN III has ever ran a quicker time than a stock GEN II".
Since that statement...
Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
Regardless of his theory. He proved you wrong and ran the quickest time in a stock GEN III. An e.t. that you said at the time was not possible.
Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
Ok,now Gen II's are faster than Gen IV's. I guess I should forget everything I've seen "at the track" and go with your superior knowledge.
So I guess a 396 1965 Vette is quicker than a 1967 427 or 1970 454...
Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
My Opinion is nobody seems to care about getting into the 10's in their GEN III on Pilots except you.
And though it is absolutely possible to do it in a GEN IV nobody has felt the need to dethrone Jamie...
Re: More Progress Towards The 10's In My Mildly Modified 06 Viper - Turned An 11.3 @
Speedfreak has already gone quicker than most people ever thought a GEN III could do before he modded his car.
So depending on his commitment and the definition of bolt-ons. His getting into the 10's with...
My answer is going to sound rude but it is not intended to be so. Different strokes for different folks you might say.
With only 2900 miles you seem to be more of a admirer than a driver. If I was mostly looking at one it would be a GEN II.
For all out driving nothing beats a GEN IV.
Now...

I also ran my best time to date that evening. Mine was in a Gen IV however. It is also my best time to date in any of my past Vipers on factory equipped tires.
R/T..... .544
60'...... 1.740
330..... 4.839...
Your mph is only slightly low. I have not seen a "base" Paxton car run better than 11:10 on street tires. Most run mid 11's.
If you are running the stock gears the 20" wheels and slightly taller tire will have an effect on how fast the supercharger can spool back up between shifts.
Those times and m.p.h. are pretty much dead on. My best Paxton runs were in the 11:30 range between 124-126 mph. Colder weather will help the mph but the extra power down low will keep the runflats from hooking-up.
Stock Paxton systems on GEN III's are extremely reliable if done by qualified mechanics. I had 9K trouble free miles on my 2004. So you won't have to worry about that. You probably can't get an extended warranty on it though.
With a 2008 GEN IV you can get an extended warranty through 2015.
It is the power difference + a factory and/or extended warranty available on a non-modded car. Though the supercharged car had a higher peak hp the Gen IV has more power available lower and sooner in the powerband.
It's the vette guys at the strip club. The Viper boys hang out at the Hoooter's from what I've seen around here.:D
ps: disregard the vette listed below. I take a rental.
I have both. Neither car has anything on the other. My loyalty goes with the Viper because it has more of what I want in a performance car. If you are a Chevy diehard the ZR1 represents just as well. Not better, only the same, IMHO.
