good luck with your search..im wishing almost that I waited a bit longer. I waited over a year and decided on a local buy...a 2000 solid red ACR (1 of 35) with 14k on the clock at 37000. Its amazing how many deals are out there now. It's like people are thinking these cars will not be worth...
i agree about prices being too low from anxious owners. SVT 2003 cobra's are going "on average" (some higher and lower) for about 18-26k. MSRP was around 34,750 for a coupe. A lot of people seem to be buying cobras for about 20-22k but no one is buying 28k viper RT-10's that MSRP for 65k. WTF.
There are a few luxo chicago dealers that advertise very similarly. I almost bought a car (can probably be researched from my past posts from abouta year ago) from exotic-motors in Chicago. Very shady. "No accidents clean carfax etc" and then you can clearly see that the front fascia is...

I just don't think in 5 years people will be selling these cars in the 20's and 30's. The economy will rebound and these cars will continue to become more desirable. Most have pegged that this car will be highly saught after. I think in the short run (5 years) the one's going for 35 will be...
They shouldn't go too much lower. If people are willing to spend 40k for a mustang convertable or 35-39k for a loaded Camaro...or 50k for a shelby gt500...then you can't expect that people won't pay 35k for a dodge viper GTS. The problem is that the sellers are feeling like their cars aren't...
I will give you the exact breakdown: Original owner posted on CL for 52,400 . I began discussing the reality and he bit my offer at 40k. I drove it and decided that I was going to wait because I saw a few better deals.
Later that year he mentioned "37k but 36k for u." I just decided to...
Hey Jeremy,
I test drove the car last summer. It is bone stock, original owner and was recently sold on ebay. I think the place you are looking to buy it from was looking to flip it but it looks like they are not going to do so. I knew exactly what the owner was looking to sell for and what...
I'd leave it alone. The starting bid is already too much. They don't say anything about a salvage so they ARE hiding stuff and this is a dealership. If they were honest about the damage maybe you would have a place to start talking. If they are hiding from the start...no answer will truly be...
Thanks for the responses. Also, unrelated, I have read that the ACR with the smooth tubes and k & n filter boost HP to 460 from stock 450. Why am I reading that the ACR's are actually slower than stock GTS? I figure more hp + slightly less weight would equal a slight 1/4 bump? If anything I...
A couple questions. Anyone ever care to show a layperson some basics to working on vipers? (what the parts are, where they are, what they do, etc). I would like to get the basic equipment to work on the car when need to be. I don't want driving to be the only passion but maybe working on the...
Re: Got my first viper today (no pics yet)
Can someone host pics for me? I will send the pics that I took today to whomever can host them for this noob!
Re: Got my first viper today (no pics yet)
Thanks for the warm welcome. Pics will be up today or tomorrow hopefully! I am really glad the car came with the Corsa exhaust. Sounds awesome.
Well a year ago I was searching and I finally decided to pull the trigger now. It is a 2000 Red GTS ACR with a Corsa exhaust; otherwise bonestock. Couldn't pass up the deal and its a great car. I finally satisfied the itch. It was bought through a third party and the owner said the only mods...
No reason for the defence, just an honest opinion. Reason people aren't selling for what they are worth is because buyers are dictating what they are worth. If you do this for a living and have followed the viper market you can go on ebay right now or auto trader and see which cars and selling...
You did an outstanding job on the ebay presentation for the sale. I think you hurt yourself with the starting price of 42,500. In all probability, it won't even get a bid or much look due to that.
People buying vipers right now are pretty much enthusiasts that know they can get a good deal...
meh....not trying to stir a pot or anything here. Just getting honest opinions on what a red 2000 ACR would be worth in outstanding condition? I know color and year are not considered "most desirable" but I am pretty unfamiliar with the overall desireability of an ACR (I know the differences...
It is a bonus it has a warranty and it is considered relatively low mileage. However, the market and the color will not get 46k for the car imho. I would be pretty happy if that pulls 40k and takes 1-6 months to sell. Just an honest opinion from someone that watched this market closely for a...
