    ALMS - Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix- TODAY 1pm EST - July 21, 2013

So close to a victory, thought he might get by the vette. Really looks like a great track to run a viper

Yamaha R1 vs. Dodge Viper - CRASH!

Probably lifted and panicked as soon as he lost traction, then locked the brakes. Looks like he just banged the facia and not the hood, so damage shouldn't be too bad. Stay in the throttle and pedal, and it could have been saved, but sometimes that can end up worse, rotating the rear around...

Have the discussions on the VCA site gone to hell?

Good example of read more, post less, don't give your expert insights until you know a lot more. You, Jon, Nineball, Paul and others all make good points. I look at the Gen V threads as repetitive train wrecks, same gripes and misinformation over and over. In other forums seems like less help...

First Time Viper Owner- Hennessey 500

I thought it would also have a 3:55 rear end. Did a quick web search, here's an article from Motor trend; A basic 510-horsepower Venom 500 GTS package ($9995) includes enlarged throttle bodies, high-flow intake manifold, competition air induction system, valvetrain fortification, computer...

    Question about srt viper sales

So if SRT had a similar guarantee program, in 3 years they'd guarantee your Gen V Launch Edition would be worth $68K, that would be a great deal and sell more vipers? BTW Tesla changed the benchmark from the S class since the industry criticized them for using a car that had the worst resale...

    Question about srt viper sales

Interesting thread, lot's of passion, some disapointment, some misunderstanding; Tesla; they have the direct to consumer business model, factory owned dealerships for sales and service. Their selling well for their size, BUT most states have legislation that prevents factory owned dealerships...

    rocker looks sand blasted

Wish I could make LS this weekend but new job and on my way to Toronto tonight for the week. If your there Gary with the black/red '08 has my featherlite. Probably Sept at either Willow or Fontana w/Speed Ventures. Have a new poly windshield and a race seat to install over the summer. If...

    rocker looks sand blasted

The rockers are aluminum (unlike the rear which is ureathane) and that edge's paint in particular takes a beating from rocks and road debris. On track cars they turn almost white as the paint gets sand blasted off from slicks. The only cure is to paint, then clear bra, but over time the clear...

Repairing Front End Damage on SRT10 Viper

It would be a rare '05 that doesn't have frame damage sold as salvage. If you priced $10K of new OEM panels and labor to fix that viper, you're missing something.

Don't have your Gen 5 yet? Rent one from Hertz!

30% of Chrysler's total YTD sales are to rental companies, it's not corporate money, it's realtionship and buying power. Do you think the hertz cars are custom units?? More than likely a few of the launch editions and who knows, may have been bought directly from dealers. At the price Hertz...

    Gen 4 intake manifold removal

Bushido, as Dan (ViperX) mentioned lot's of oil when you pull the intake, the catch-can he designed is posted in the illustrated upgrades. You track, get one. Boxer12, the Arrow version is great, as you'll see in the upgrade thread, not posted to sell vs. others, just a DIY option. Dan...

    Gen one stress cracks

Rex, I've never seen or heard of that happening before. My thought was that, like others have said, perhaps somebody sat on the top of the sport bar or repaired body work is now deteriorating? I'm not an expert but I've been on these boards a long time and never saw that happen so I waited to...

    Question on Mixing fuels

The CEL without the controller is when, not if with headers on a Gen IV. I lasted 200 miles? As soon as you moderately cruise for 10-15 minutes your done. (Issue is heat levels in the cats). Hopefully the controller for the G5 will be out soon. I don't keep up with the G5 developments like...

    Question on Mixing fuels

Kris, you can fill 100% unleaded 100 octane. Maybe the SRT engineers can comment on real hp/trq improvements going beyond 91 octane on the stock Gen IV and V computers?? On the Gen IV motors, with the venom ECU, the computer wants 93 or better. They run fine on 91 and just pull back timing...

Catch cans-are they emissions legal in California?

Peter, I think a visual may miss the pvc bypass. But, hard to miss the open breather on top of the can. Not looking forward to my 1st smog test coming later this year, but removing the whole set up and reconnecting the pcv, maybe 1 hour?

acr x owners, anyone know anything about acrx vin17 ??

If your really interested call Bernie. He sold that car with the same mileage, so whoever traded it in, never drove it.

    New Owner/Memver

Welcome to viper ownership and the SoCal Viper Club. Keep an eye on the SoCal site, always a number of events on the calendar. for the tuning questions, as others have noted, waiting for headers, etc. Gen IV's have similar motors and adding headers, exhaust, ported intake, heads, mopar ECU...

Would you buy the engine out of this car?

That's a pretty vague question without some background? Condition, application, price, etc. etc. I'd trust David's word on the condition and maintenance (rebuild) history. X engines aren't that special vs. a stock Gen IV so price is a big driver too.

    NARRA 2013 Watkins Glen - Videos/Pictures, etc..

Keith, great video and real good driving too! Looks like a little overcast and hopefully cool? I've never seen WG from an in-car, looks like a fun track, I'd just need to get used to the blue armco! Hope NARRA gets back out west again, it would be great to meet you. Best wishes in the...

    Race Ramps

REDSLED, Ramps look great! You got a killer deal Fatboy, his viper looks great and shoots flames on the track when he lifts for hard braking. This is my favorite picture of his GTSR

    California Speedway open track, 5/4/13

Couple of video's from CA Speedway, nice event, temps low 80"s, light wind, not too crowded. Hadn't been there in over a year, ran little sloppy but kept my foot in it on the oval and ran my best time to date. First video is only 1:30, I got out late, stock car and two indy type cars pass as I...

A used Launch Editon already available

The discount is only $4K off list, google the vin and see what Ringold was asking, list. I don't think he's looking for $100 bill cash, he's just try to be clear to everyone he's not a dealer and doesn't take trades or offer financing. Plus, pay-pal fee's would be something like $2000.00 plus.

    Lights after hard acceleration

Glad you got it sorted out and fixed. When I first had my problems, Dan Cragin replaced my bad cam senosr with a bad cam sensor he bought from chrysler and it took him some time to figure out the new once was bad too. Yes, keep a spare, fairly easy to replace, most of the guys out here I track...
