C6r uses a steel frame. Aluminum is not allowed for teh c6r because the production C6, which came before the new Z06, uses a steel frame and so must the race version.
I love the Viper and think visually the new coupe is better looking than the Z06.
One thing about driving the RT/10 is I am always more worried about leaving it in a parking lot - wheras with the Vette I drive it everyday.
I have to agree the Paint on the Corvettes is pretty terrible. I...
Congrats on your new ride.
But they are apples to apples.
Two seat rear wheel drive front engined American sports cars. How is that apples to oranges? It's more like Granny smith to Macintosh.
Dodge needs to get back into Lemans and compete with the Corvette.
Competition is great for both brands - which I love. Viper and Corvette have really pushed each other over the last 12 years and it is in everyones best interest that it continues.
Hope this special Viper is in the works.
It's funny how badly people here are in denial. Head in the sand is being polite.
The fact is that this is the Z06 official time at the ring, besting amongst others a $320K Lambo Murcielago and a $450K SLR Merc. I think the target for the Z06 was set beyond just the Viper, and 1/4 mile times...

Guess the LeMans winning driver is wrong also. GM probably didn't want him to know he was actually testing the Blue Devil. It all makes sense now.
A two month old Autoweek is correct but the guy who drove the thing is wrong. Makes...

And those are pictures of a regular Z06 not the Blue Devil. That article is over two months from July of 05. Dave Hill (Corvette chief engineer) and the new...
Look at the Cover of the most current Motor Trend Sept. 2005
On the top of the cover "Z06 Hot Laps the Ring" - followed inside by a two page spread with quotes from Jan Magnuson, and details on how GM prepped the car and the track.
And the Corvette program doesn't do the "wink wink" thing...
What about Motor Trend?
Sorry but this is official. Dave Hill (Head of the C6 Program) would not lie about the Z06's time anymore than he would about it's horsepower.
The old C5 Z06 ran the ring at 7:56, so this should be expected.

There has been much confusion on this. Basically people saw a Blue car at the ring and "heard" a whine as the car was testing and they assumed this was the rumored Blue Devil. It has since been confirmed by many publications as well as Chief Corvette Engineer Dave Hill that it was a...
