    Cash Sale Advice

A cashiers check? I wouldn't take a cashiers check these days. It could be bogus and your bank wouldn't find out for days. Take the guy to your bank and get him to buy a cashiers check for you with his cash. The bank should be able to tell if the money is real. When you deposit the check in...

What's involved in a piston swap?

Re: What\'s involved in a piston swap? Ken, It sounds like you never rebuilt an engine before this. I don't think I'd make this my first rebuild. Get someone to do it for you or at least get an experienced person to help you. There are a few little things that must be done right.

    Tires too old?

Will the Kumho v700's be fine? Too bad you didn't get them. They would be perfect for your low miles per year. I have them and they stick.

Top 10 Tips to Driving the Viper?

The reports I have heard go something like this. Driving on a highway in rain, keeping up with regular traffic, no turns, straight road. Then the rpm starts to go up just like a slipping clutch. As I said, the tires you have might make a big difference in the speed where this will happen.

Top 10 Tips to Driving the Viper?

I guess it depends on the tires you have.... But those big tires will hydroplane on a raining wet highway. Keep that in mind if you get caught on a highway in a downpour. I've heard reports of serious hydro at 60 mph on a road where normal cars are having no problem.

Group Purchase of Stowable Dodge Viper Hardtop

I just wanted to say that I received my one piece, no scoop, top from Jeff. Very nice, just what I wanted. It makes the car look so much better.

    Free to good home

"The simple truth is that most Americans are not willing to do those low-paying menial/back-breaking jobs and wages (meaning prices will go up) will have to be significantly raised in order to find Americans willing to do the job." That's just bull. How much would it take to get some...

forced induction theory question: why is boost more at front than at rear?

How about making these front and rear pressure measurments on a car without a blower. Will you see three pounds difference in pressure? Of course, it isn't going to be positive pressure, but will there be a difference? Could the difference you measure have anything to do with the temperature...

Your kids and your viper !!

There is no question that young drivers have less experience. There is no question that young drivers are likely to be subjected to peer pressure to do things that are not safe. There are good reasons why insurance costs so much for young male drivers. Driving a Viper as anyone would drive a...

    The 500hp Gen2 Question

Heads and cam designed for a race car may not be very good for a street car. The street exhaust system, as mentioned above, might limit what you get from race porting. The compression that you can use with street gas is probably going to top out at about 10.5 or so. A race car is going to use...

Viper crash at Nurburgring, Arizona plates.

"Its just so easy to have an off track excursion, and twist up your pride and joy. Thats why I want a dedicated track car that I can afford to wad up into a ball" Vic is right on the money here. Before you go out on the track with your street Viper, ask yourself. "how would I feel if I hit...

    The 500hp Gen2 Question

Bonk, I know you said you wanted to go with NA. But for a street car, that just doesn't make sense. As RedEnuf93 said. Go with the supercharger. I think that if you were to look at the curves for a 500hp na engine against a 500hp sc engine, there probably would be more area under the...

Some jerk tries to run me off the road and I get pulled over!!!

They were screwing with you because of your car, of course you know that. In a heavily policed area, perhaps the safest thing to do would be to slow way down rather than grab a gear. You did it your way and it worked out, Cant argue with that. But slowing down, hard as it would be, probably...

    Easy Method to find TDC

The length of the rod will have to be taken into consideration too. A longer rod will change the movement per degree at the top of the stroke.

    Easy Method to find TDC

Someone with more interest in this question ;-) could do the math on this. What's the diameter of the circle made by the outside of the rod journal? About 4" or so? The circumference would be a little over 12.5" Figure the change for a degree of crank movement on either side of TDC. What is...

    Easy Method to find TDC

"it hit the apogee and started back down" If it did that, good for you. Many engines don't do this. There will be a few degrees where the crank is going over the top where you can't see any change in piston movement. When you have a short block on a stand with a degree wheel attached and a...

High Mileage Owners - Any Pet Peeves???

"just have a thing for perfect condition low mileage cars" Ok, but that's not the same thing. I've heard plenty of guys talking about the money it will cost them at sale time if they put too many miles on their Viper.

How the hell do people get in and out of their RT10 without looking goofy?

    1. Insert right foot into Viper. 2. Reach into Viper and grasp wheel. 3. Bend left leg at knee in order to get head low enough to clear roof. 4. In one decisive motion, swing your body in and place your rear end into the seat. 5. Bring left leg aboard. Note: If, during step 4, you hit your...

High Mileage Owners - Any Pet Peeves???

Anyone who is concerned about mileage reducing the value of their Viper doesn't make enough money and shouldn't own one. It's a car. Drive it all you want. If the devaluation cost of the miles is a concern, better get a cheaper car.

    Help me understand this!

I don't leave mine in public after dark. During the day, up near the front of a parking lot is ok. But I live in a rural area. There was a guy on here a couple of years ago who came back to his RT10 with his date, after eating dinner. Someone had taken a leak in the passenger seat. He had to...

    Easy Method to find TDC

Another way is to use a bumper. You take an old spark plug and epoxy a steel rod in place of the ceramic insulator. Make sure the rod reaches far enough to hit the piston. Then screw it in place, and remove all the other plugs. Turn the engine, by hand, one way, till it stops against...

Questions for MD/VA/DC metro Viper Owners....

Hi kev, I'm in Southern Md too. Chaptico only a few miles from jeffdai. I don't know where to tell you to go for service, but don't go to Ralph's Dodge in Prince Frederick MD. I had trouble with them after they backed one of their company trucks into my Viper while they had it for repair.
