I was at the track Monday and Wednesday this week and I get numerous requests every day. It was flattering at first but getting tiring now, especially when you have to say no can do.
Got passed exactly once in two days, and that was by an ACR driven by Fred Roberts who races a Comp Coupe...
First thing to know is to disregard anything MT has reported on the Gen V. Trust yourself as far as any possible heat issue in your car. I track mine aggressively, that gets everything about as hot as you're apt to, and there's no issue at all when I turn the A/C on. The side sill carpet does...
Why do you think an SRT dealer can't afford to have 1 Viper on display (and try to sell it), and why do you think it's the manufacturers job to make a different arrangement? I would think if an SRT dealer doesn't want to order and pay for one like any other car they buy then that's a red flag...
Some dealers up here are advertising in-coming 2015's.
I'm sure some dealers don't have any Gen V's and want them, while others have lots. SRT can't fix the problems that some dealers have with selling these cars, which in some cases is just poor sales and business practices from the stories...
I take great care not to scatch the paint, hosing it down thoroughly on the outside, and lightly under the hood (not directly on engine/exhaust). No problems with water, including driving it in heavy rain on the highway and in lighter rain at speed on the track.
I saw one at Virginia International Raceway with matt black stripes, but that was not available from the factory. Others here have had them added with both paint and vinyl....same with any aero bits you want.
There's also a huge difference in SPL between some recordings I've put on memory stick. Some you can't seem to turn up loud enough, others you have to turn down. And on some the bass feels weak, and others it's very strong. Audiophile grade recordings sound quite good with the engine off, but...
The number is very small under the SRT on the badge, my guess is you missed it...if not ask the dealer to explain. No orange stitching on steering wheel, clutch engagement is quite high even though pedal travel is long, all have black plastic rear brake inlets...and car is awesome!
TA 23/33.
You need to figure out what "you" want because you seem to be all over the map and headed deep into purchase paralysis. I'm guessing you don't want a loaded Viper at all and fretting over prices that don't apply to your needs. Since cost/value/resale/Vette pricing is very important you might...
The base car's pricing looks good to attract the mass market, Corvette's target audience. When well-optioned for serious performance and to compete with higher-end cars it's double the cost of a C7, yet shares the same paint quality. Those wanting an exotic supercar can choose the Gen V with...
There's been plenty of threads devoted to everyone's opinions for changes they need to make to sell more cars in the future. I'll just continue to enjoy the car to the fullest, demonstrate how well SRT executed their vision for today's Viper, and maybe gather a little more support for a type of...
Thanks. I don't think I could stand it if the car were any cooler! It was a mob scene at the gas station the other day. I lifted the hood three times for photos as people kept pulling in and coming over.
I guess I do tend to get a little annoyed about the effect that marketing has on some...
An actual real life Z06 will finally be a good thing for us. It will be impossible to live up to the hype GM created, which even here reached epic proportions. The rags will still gush over it for at least a year, retest every other car supercar against it to support its anointment as the best...
What, you can't see me shift? Geez I must be FAST! Haha, that's partly my response to the Porsche guys bragging about their mind-blowingly fast shifting trannies that keep them in their powerband all the time. And it was partly demonstrating that my powerband is so wide I just don't need to...
Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (aka Mosport) has a Driver Development Track (DDT) that they've expanded and upgraded this year. It's a safe track with minimal barriers to run into, and a good place to feel out your car and skills at the limit. This was my first time on it, as was it for all but...
Test cars are provided by an agency for testing, not directly from SRT. Yes they should be checked over but we know that hasn't always been done very well in the past. And how should it be provided? Something as simple as having one car supplied with new matching tires (slippery for the first...
The 2014 TA includes the 12 speaker system only. As I said, road noise is minimal (ie when you push clutch in at highway speeds, or coasting), but it's the exhaust noise you always hear. It's loud but not objectionable below about 2000 rpm (~70 mph) but there is a pretty loud resonance (drone)...
The numbers are only as good as the drivers, test car condition and its prep. You need look no further than the large disparity in braking distances between Viper tests to know this one is waay off. Reviewers likely wouldn't have even checked tire pressures at the time of testing, something an...
Reviewers so often get it wrong, but unfortunately many readers don't know both of these cars well enough to know how wrong Edmunds go it. The Stingray was pre-determined to be the winner of all journalists tests in 2013-14, regardless of what it was put up against, as was the GT-R a few years...
