While I don't really care that much which Gen you call it, if it is not a Gen3, Then the Corvette is in about its 30th generation not 6th. A new engine and hood wouldn't seem to qualify as even a half generation.
In Corvette terms:
C1 single headlight 6 cyl
C2 single headlight V8
C3 '56...
My '04, bought new in June '05, has 27,200 miles. I live in IA so I don't drive it when there is salt on the roads, so it has really been in service about 24 months considering the time I have been out of the country on business or the road are salted.
I have driven her to NH twice.
I LOVE...
My '04 has 27000 miles and there is no possible reason to change them. If they required frequent periodic replacement they would have to be in the maintenance schedule (by federal law), otherwise they would be required to be maintained under the emissions warranty.
Why would you expect a...
I am pretty close to these numbers except I don't go below about 1250 rpm to avoid torsional disturbances to the crank and balancer.
I know the skip shift allows lower RPMs, but at very low speeds I don't want the rotating components to be hammered to the point of being able to feel the power...
With a new engine and hood plus a few chassis tuning tweaks the '08 would still be a Gen 3.
If it were considered a new generation, Corvettes would be in their 50th generation:
Gen 1 6 cyl
Gen2 265 V8
Gen3 '56 Body Style
Gen4 '58 Body Style
Gen5 283 V8
Gen6 '61...
The Viper should be able, just like ANY Corvette or other car, run at any RPM at or below the redline as long as you have fuel.
My '69 Corvette turns 3800 RPM at 75 and I have run thousands of miles at that speed.
In my daily Viper driving I kiss the redline every day during spirited shifting.
Yes, if it had more performance (power to weight ratio) than one with a V10.
The central advantage of a naturally aspirated V-10 over a V8 of the same displacement is it two extra intake valves against its disadvantages or higher weight and increased internal friction. A large displacement V8...
I have driven my (purchased new) Viper over 25,000 miles in the first 27 months. I drive in the rain but can't bring myself to subject it to the salted roads found here in IA during the winter. Consequently, it has really been on the road for less than 21 months.
I am NOT saving my Viper, I...
First, if the Viper was his, it would be sold.
Second, in IA he would be walking courtesy of the state.
Third, he would need to be walking or taking the bus to school.
I also think the kid should have never been put into such a situation having a Viper. Even if the kid were an actor and made...
The new Viper is CLEARLY the better sports car all objective parts of the the C/D test.
Someone else pointed out that the Z is only available as a coupe, that is a BIG thing for a couple of reasons. First, that is really the only reason it comes away as the lighter car. The Viper is optimized...
I'd be shocked if a dealer would trade for 10K.
For a while 08 should be going for above sticker, possibly much above - there is always a pool of gotta have first/now it buyers that will inflate prices.....
I think a 10K trade for another 06 would be a good trade let alone an 08. Even...
"recirc" is found in the most CCW positions of the air selection knob. One position is mid level vents only and the other is split between floor and mid level.
Something is still wrong with your system.
The AC system should freeze you out when its 95F outside.
Mine keeps me cool enough when the top is down at that temperature!!
I agree.
Of course, my '69 Corvette convertible was originally green and I made it white, then black 100,000 miles later and my '68 Impala convertible was originally green and I changed it to red, so I have NEVER been a fan of ANY green (OK, maybe nitro lime green on a Hemi 'Cuda convertible).
I have a pair of Corvettes convertibles, '61 and '69.
When in my Viper I wave to Corvettes and IF I ever see a Viper on the road when in one of my Corvettes I will wave.
While not Vipers, Corvettes are certainly worthy of a friendly wave, if they don't wave back, that's their problem.
I...
My Viper has just over 18,000 miles since I got it new and it has always shifted well. It shifts well anywhere in the rev range including at 6000 rpm.
Shifting problems are NOT an across the board problerm.
There are some real jerks out there.
My concern with deflating an idiot's tires is that the idiot could find your Viper later and do some real damage. It is not like a specific Viper is hard to find in most cities.....
Glad to hear that you're OK.
You REALLY beat the odds not being killed after being ejected. The passenger compartment looks like it held up pretty well.
Iowa requires front plates. I built an aluminum clamp on bracket to hold my plate.
I have been pulled over for a SLANTED front plate on my '69 Corvette, so I don't want to press my luck with my Viper.
Even if you TOTALLY block the exhaust, the only thing that will happen is the loss of power associated with not allowing fresh air into the cylinders. Loss of power, just like a potato in the tailpipe.
