    Under $40K for sure. There are plenty of nice clean cars out there that can be had for more than reasonable prices. I would pass and keep looking instead of trying to negotiate down a problem car where the seller is asking well over $60K. Seller is obviously delusional.

    Congrats! I bought my 97 B/W from PA and did a similar road trip with one of my buddies. Pretty good time except for the lack of sleep and occasional nod off while driving. Always fun doing a road trip to buy a nice car. :drive:

    The one in NJ sold for $29,600 like 2 or 3 weeks ago and it did not have a salvage history. It was however involved in a minor accident. Looked like a nice car. Had a few miles, slightly iover 40K, but looked clean nevertheless.

    Hunting for another GTS

    When I was looking, I found that all things equal, 97 B/W's were bringing the most money, even though the 96's are a first year car. Better wheels plus didn't the 96's have a frame recall?

    Typically you will hand over the check to their attorney to hold in escrow until the deed is recorded. I have never had a transaction where no check was handed over. Not sure of anyone that would do it like that. You must deal with some trusting people.

    #66 was for sale recently. I beleive it was a 1 owner car with 3K miles. It was advertised online for $89K and a car dealer ended up buing the car recently and now has it on Ebay for $97K. Not sure what the car dealer paid for it, but I bet it was less than $89K. About a year or so ago...

    That "car lady" def. has more money than brains. Having that lady bid on your car is like winning the lottery. She over pays for everything. Just likes to spend money I guess. Don't know why she goes to the auctions when she can get private deals that are a thousand times better.

    97-98 red gts price range

    You should be able to find a really nice red GTS in that price range with far less than 80K miles. A member on here bought a nice red GTS with around 7K miles for $30K recently. The deals are out there, you just have to be ready to act quick when you find them. Good luck with your search.
