Of all the car rags, Autoweek consistently posts the slowest times in performance tests. You cannot compare times from different magazines, nor is it even safe to compare times from the same magazine, unless the tests were done at the same time and same conditions.
I spoke several times on the phone in the past month with a Mary from New Orleans, so I think this is the Mary you're referring to. She has been traveling for the past month, driving up to PA to visit her mother and then to MI to visit another relative, then back to PA to see her mother again...
Well, we certainly have the horsepower wars all over again. The difference is that the muscle cars were somewhat mainstream cars aimed at the young male buyers. Today's high horsepower cars are aimed at a more affluent demographic, one which is a lot less likely to be deterred by high gas...
Great choice! 1 of 100. That makes about a zillion Vipers Woodhouse has sold just this year to people in VA and MD. Bill's driver can probably make the 1400-mile journey with his eyes closed.
This Saturday, August 27, Cook Motorcars (Dodge dealer) in Aberdeen, MD will be hosting a Tech Session for the VA-MD VCA. Vipers from PA, DE and NJ are cordially invited to join us. The event will run from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. Cook will have a Viper Tech available to answer our questions and...
I want to add my thoughts before the usual collection of Gen III bashers jumps in on this thread. I purchased an SRT-10 in May after 7-1/2 years of GTS ownership. It took me a while to warm up to the styling, but once I accepted it, it was easy to take the plunge. The Gen I/II styling will...
Re: What\'s the longest road trip you have taken in your Viper?
In 1999 I drove my 97 GTS out to VOI 5 in Las Vegas, then took some extra time to do some sightseeing. On the way back, swung by Michigan to visit a friend. All told, 7000 miles, 18 days, 18 states, all kinds of weather...
I bought the US Speed mats and have been very satisfied. They've got a lot of color and trim options. The Snake Oyl tapestry mats are absolutely gorgeous, but a little too nice -- in my opinion -- for a car that isn't a garage queen.
Re: Dealer has excess 04\'s....pricing?
An untitled "new" car with 800 miles -- I'm sure all the people who test drove that puppy were mindful of the break-in process and babied the car.
You were wise to pass on it.
I think painting those two bezels and the aux power really wakes up the interior, and is one of the most cost-effective aesthetic mods you can do. IMHO all Vipers should come like this from the factory.
To elaborate a bit on the challenge, it will be the total horsepower of all the Vipers at the show vs the total horsepower of all the Corvettes at the show. The thought here is that the Vipers will have more HP per car, but the Vettes will have more cars. Of course, we'll need a good Viper...
Re: Dealer has excess 04\'s....pricing?
I'm afraid I low-balled the 05 invoice price. It's around $78,700 for most 05's, not the $77,200 I posted. That's what happens when I trust my memory. Sorry for the confusion.
Add me to the list of Stealth TT veterans. I had a metallic turquoise 91 that attracted a lot of attention when new. This car was the best road car (grand tourer) I've owned -- comfortable, fast (for its time), and very stable. Moving from a Stealth to a Gen I Viper is going to be a real...
I put about 3400 miles on my 2005 SRT-10 before I added the 3.55 gears. I've been logging my mileage pretty religiously. I bought the car from Woodhouse Dodge in May, picked it up in person, and took the scenic route back to Virginia via the Black Hills, Mt Rushmore and the Badlands. I...
Re: Dealer has excess 04\'s....pricing?
Assuming all these cars are new and not used, I'd be looking to pay $69-71K for the '04's (maybe another couple thousand for a Mamba edition). Invoice on the '05's is around $77,200, so anything around that is a good deal. Again, Mambas and Copperheads...
Re: Paid $385.90 to renew my tags for a year. What\'s everyone else paying?
Tags (license plate renewals) here in the People's Republic of Virginia are only about $85 for two years for vanity plates. However, personal property tax is levied annually in October, and is calculated at 4.57% of...
Many thanks to Matt for setting up this great little event. Matt just bought his Viper a few months ago, and immediately joined the VCA. Now he's stepped forward and set up a VCA event. Is this a great car club or what?!
Viper owners are invited to join us in a "Cruise to the Cruise-In" in Fredericksburg, VA, Saturday, August 6. Cruise: Meet at Park-n-Ride off Route 17 at 4:00 pm for snacks. Cruise leaves at 5:00, will proceed over some scenic roads and then back through Fredericksburg to the Cruise-In at the...
