Race Brakes: What do you racers use?

I was under the impression that Tom put 38s behind the stoptechs (the factory brakes get 40s).

    Timing Cover Gasket

This is a common problem with gen IIs. I've had archer racing do this at the track once and I've done it myself in my garage. The hardest part is the darn AC compressor and the crankshaft bolt (like 200 ftlbs or somethings like that!). Get a friend to step tight on the brakes with car in 6th...

R&R Crossover Gaskets -- Any Tips?

reattach the crossover temporarily and take apart the housing. Take your time. The worst part is putting the housing back together. I recommend finger tighten the housing bolts, then finger tighten the crossover bolts, then wrench everythings down tight.

That was a nice weekend, Ryan. I couldn't stop talking about it all Monday. My patients were getting soooo bored with me:) I'm glad I took my GTS, and not the RT/10. Best dyno so far, and even beat a stock SRT! Time to change my sig. thanks, Ryan. For those who didn't know.. .Ryan is now...

    Ok..remeoved rocker panals and............

I have no cats or side mufflers. Rear muff only. The sound is not bad at all. I can cruise with the windows up and resonance is only minimal. The car sounds much better, more like a performance exhaust "option". I will be putting on high flow cats soon just to pass our new inspections in...

Re: The article about brakes Viper Magazine didn\'t want to print... I had submitted an article over a year ago about low-cost options for a big brake upgrade (including Tom's option, Roe, Racecars, Viperspeed, etc). I went through several vendors and thought it was well thought out and current...

Do I have a Gen 2 engine in my car?!?!

I don't think the throttle bottles of a gen I (dual throttle c ables) will fit the gen 2 because the gen I alternator is right where the gen 2 throttle shaft goes. I think you've got a gen 1

IRS vs Viper payment as business deduct

lease or depreciate it, and don't forget that personal property used for business is taxable locally (in Texas it is anyways). I keep my Viper out of the business and keep track of certain viper-related expenses entrance fees to events, hotels, travel and meals, etc.

    best deal on muffler delete

Instead of pulling out the rear muff and increasing drone, remove the two side resonators. The remaining factory rear muffler will act like a crossover.

    Exhaust Delete Update

That's great info. I've got my sidesill off right now and was fixing to do the same. I've always wondered the same as far as different noise and drone levels. I was going for #7 as well, but may install highflow cats in future. thanks for info

    SRT vs. Z06 Dyno results

GR8 ASP is right. The HP numbers were all reverified according to the new testing requirements. The difference must be attributed to either a funky dyno or the drivetrain on the ZO6s is crazy-light.

    Burn out??

The Viper, unfortunately, has way to much bias to the front. It is possible to slow the front wheels down a little while exerting very little pressure on the rears. While doing a burnout, apply just enough brake to slow down the car. If you do it right, your speed will slowly increase until...

    Harmonic balancer loose

to tighten bolt. You need BIG torque wrench and 3 people. One guy stands on the brakes while the car is in 4th or 5th gear and two people pull/push on the wrench to torque into place.

    HRE wheel repair ?

My front wheel just developed a 3" crack on inner barrel two days after ViperDays. Tire went flat in about 30 minutes. I sent the wheel to HRE. They need to replace the inner barrell (no duh) but also want to replace outer because of .030" runout. Is this a lot? Total cost of both barrels...
