Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing. I'm pretty surprised that Gen I has appreciated much higher than others. For me it was the first attempt and very crude. But I guess that's where the appeal is.
I didn't know the value of Gen I/II's are starting on the upward trend. It's about time. I've always wondered why it took so long.

I've thought about it a long time and not sure if there's an easy fix. Short of replacing the elastic I'm not sure there's anything that can be done. One could remove the head liner and replace the elastic from behind but that would entail removing the entire net assembly too.
Too tight tolerance? lol Then why does my panel in front of the door have 6 spacers on one side and only 4 spacers on the other?
So I have the same issue with my pass door. I've tried adjusting it many times but it still doesn't seem right. I can close it and it rubs a little on the seal...
They actually put a lot of thought into those things but sometimes when you're too deep in the weeds you don't step back and look at the big picture. I agree, It would have been so much easier and serviceable to limit the amount of different types of fasteners. Then again the first gen Vipers...
It normally takes a few seconds for the pump to pressurize the line. If it takes 5 seconds for the pump to even start up then you need to get it replaced.
when I shipped my drag slicks all I did was bring it to UPS and put a sticker on it. No box, no packaging whatsoever. Tires are pretty indestructible to ship.
Now see you enjoyed every "trip" there. Key word being trip. If you lived here it would be very different. It's a one show town where everything lives and dies by the state of one industry. I've lived through many many ups and downs. You mostly remember the downs. As far as seeing go-fast...
Man, not around here. I've got to move out of Deetroit. Yes we're more exclusive than a Vette or stang but there's so many around here people go "look another Viper".
Dude, in terms of volume sold obviously the Hellcat outsold Vipers exponentially. Go talk to any one of the Chrysler engineers and ask them if they every contemplated using a V8 in a Viper. You will get some funny looks then you will probably get a "you're nuts" response.
I'm not sure speed was the main factor in the decision making. If you ever watched the assembly line at Conner Ave. it moved once every 5 minutes. So there was plenty of time. The guys would read the paper in between indexing. It comes down to cost saving. Every fraction of a penny was...
There's no way they would have build a V8 Viper. It just wouldn't have been the same. It's like watering down the brand.
Your impression that the factory never supported the car is slightly off. It's all down to dollars and ROI. They had limited budget and Viper never was profitable by...
It's great that you're thinking of ways to improve our cars. We know there are lots of areas that can use improving. But keep in mind these cars are basically low volume, hand built assemblies. So not exactly optimized for serviceability or ease of maintenance.
You can't add a "Booster" if the original doesn't pump correctly. You would end up with a starved booster pump. It's not difficult to replace the pump. You have to remove the pump module from the top of the tank and disassemble the pump from the module. There are many good aftermarket pumps...
My car is a '97. It's in my signature.
Loud is nice but with no cats & mufflers to me it would be unbearable after 5 minutes. I don't have either but the turbos and my cross over cut out a lot of the drone so it's not obnoxious.
I don't have CATS and no CEL. I'm not sure if 2000 is any different but I didn't do anything special.
No CATS and no mufflers? Damm you must have good ear plugs.
I saw a cell phone in China 10 years ago that sat on your dashboard and showed HUD information on your windshield. Sounded like something that was made in a backyard shop. Lol
It seems kinda hoky. HUD are incredible complex features. Just doesn't seem like something aftermarket would be able to pull off that's actually usable.
