You and me both brutha...........you and me both, I hit 55 next month
Sorry about that Tommy, this is one of the tigbits I picked up on this board over the last 13 years, it is a good thing to know before hand :headbang:
.
As Dom mentioned tires have a "born on" date stamped on each Michelin tire. It is a 4 digit number inside an oval, say the # is 2407 that means the tire was manufactured on the 24 week of 2007 etc. Not good to have tires on over 5years old :nono:
Yeah but it wasn't a pu$$y Vette piece of tupperware, NCRS Top Flight #s matching L71 (427/435) classic, fastest thing I ever drove until I got my 2000 RT/10.
Pagid and Hawk are "OK" track pads but being my Viper is a 2000 with no ABS I find that Brakeman 3 pads are a more "progressive" pad. Less chance of locking them up and flat spotting your tires, which I still did twice and ended up having to have the tires shaved. And Dave 14,770 posts? You whore.
Ain't nothing worse then brake fade, happened to me here at Willow Springs as a beginner. Going down the front straight at 120+ hit the brakes for the 90 degree left and it went all the way down to the floor, there isn't a worse feeling. Luckily being a beginner I broke early and was going slow...
Oh god I put on a recommended set of Reds once drove around the block back into my driveway and took them off and threw them out, that's what I think of the Reds!
If dust is what you care about stick with those, but if you ever track your car and really need it to stop a Stoptech BB system and Brakeman 3 pads are the ticket :2tu:
What I do is 4 runs from 100-5mph, 4 runs 80-5mph and 8 runs 60-5mph. Stomp on them hard but don't come to a complete stop, you will get some "green" fade and your pads will be smoking a little that is normal then drive about 5 miles without touching the brake pedal to cool them down and you...
I had Stoptech brakes, easy as pie, same size pad front and back. No need to take the caliper off no pins involved, I used to swap out the fronts at the track in half an hour. Make sure you bed the pads in.
Hell yeah post up that video. I spoke to Jonathan (Redsled) who was out there and he said a good time was had by all...........except 2 people who had mishaps.
P Zeros are crap, PS2s are nice all around tires that get good wear. PSC is the best perforamce tire of the lot, sticky as hell but wear quickly like 4,000 miles of "spirited driving" and are not a great rain tire. I'm pretty sure you can get the Michelin Super Sports in those sizes, although...
Move to Cali, lots of warm track days here. Here's a vid of me and Terry Rossi sharing a session in a 2008 ACR.

You know to can manually defeat the X & K bands which are not much used anymore by law enforcement and pretty much lose all the false alarms. Keep the Ka & L bands.
