Anyone have this issue? Rough Idle when hot sometimes, almost dies

Could also be a plugged / inoperative IAC. A good scan tool like autotap & your laptop will show you what the PCM is feeding it, and help you diagnose if this is the issue. --FQB

Anyone have this issue? Rough Idle when hot sometimes, almost dies

You can have codes with no CEL. Some codes require 3+ trips with the issue that caused the code to be present prior to turning on the CEL. Use a good tool to look at these. --FQB

Anyone have this issue? Rough Idle when hot sometimes, almost dies

It's definitely time for a plug change especially if you have those copper core ones that most '06 come from the factory with. If you want to run plugs for a lot of miles use high grade platinum or iridium. I prefer iridium for NA applications. --FQB

New PS2 but old DOT ?

And those tires have exactly how much in common with street tires ? Hmmm ? Answer ZERO beyond being round and not metallic. And yes, team Ferrari put on a clinic while everyone else sat in the pits. --FQB

    Differential Swap Question

If that happens you have to make sure the half shaft is removed from the knuckle and you can use a slide hammer puller to work it off the splines, usually just a quick couple hits. When you put it back on, make sure you grease the splines on the diff. There are some internal issues with the...

New PS2 but old DOT ?

When I bought my 06 Coupe BRAND NEW, 2 of the tires were from '04 and 2 from '05 -- car was built in Feb 06. Should I have returned the car because the tires were old ? As long as the tires are stored in a fairly well controlled climate I challenge anyone to drive a new and an old set and...

    Tansmission Shaft Pilot Bearing??

Without a doubt, change the pilot shaft bearing. It's easy and will save you big down the road. Usually comes with a clutch kit, if not spend the few bucks to buy it. Always, always, always change it, even if it's good right at this moment. That's the whole idea, you don't want a failure...

Keep the 03, or upgrade, or wait next gen opinions

Keep it. GenIII's are way more mod friendly at least until such time as there's more support for the GenIV PCM. You can get a GenIII diff built by Unitrax with a Quaife and what ever gears you want with the ability to change the gears later [ not so much with the GenIV rear end ] and then if...

I used to own a Viper

Sure am glad I live here in FL ! Get to drive year round. I don't know how you tolerate all that snow and cold crap. If it's under 70'F I'm starting to feel a chill :D

    Car Shipping Precautions

It's important to remember that a lot of car haulers can *not* get a Viper on the top rack because of the angles and the Vipers low stance. You may not be able to get it a ride on top which would be optimal. If the hauler has some class and is used to hauling high end cars, they'll protect...

Have to buy another motor, any sugestions

"Throwing a rod" usually congers up images of holes where they shouldn't be like the side of the block. If that's the case, 15-18k isn't out of the question given the cost of a new short block and then rebuilding the heads and stuff. --FQB

05 SR10 Rear End problems HELP

A Dana 44 is a fairly light rear end for a car with as much torque as a Viper. Your replacement differential may not have used the best stuff in the rebuild process. From experience I can tell you that you want an expert in this type of differential like Unitrax to build them. They will...

    2003 Hydra-Loc Differential

I had a GenIII diff built for my 06 coupe by Unitrax with a Quaife in it. Best thing I ever did. I am NA so I had 3.55's put in there, also a great move. The car handles so much better now and 6th gear is even usable. --FQB

    Viper Question

There was no 2007 production, they were doing the new engine and trans, etc. I suspect the new Viper will have govt mandated nannies, and that's so truly unfortunate. You know that the govt has almost single handedly destroyed the auto industry with regulation and stupidity. Is everything...

    Viper Question

Not at all. IMNSHO I truly hate nanny. I have it in my 09 Challenger srt8 6spd, it blows. Can't even 100% turn it off. I grew up and learned to drive long before any form of nanny. I actually learned how to control a car in less than optimal conditions and I went to several driving schools...

    Viper Question

The worlds best TC and car handling system is the grey matter between the ears coupled to the bio-mechanical human unit. Simply put, a Viper needs no nanny tech BS, simply a good driver. If you're so lame as to need nanny to stay on the road, a Viper surely isn't the car for you. Buy a...

    2003 Srt-10 Owner Question

V1 radar detector uses a telco style connector -- what might appear as a small network connector. Nothing I can think of uses an rj45 [ cat 5 ] that large except maybe that flux capacitor !!! --FQB

    And so it begins......

Find yourself a black SRT10 RAM [ I have one NOT for sale ;) ] and it will pull anything, boats, cars, whatever without issue. And now days they are becoming fairly inexpensive and they're cheap to insure as well. --FQB

    Transmission Fluid "redux"

AMSOIL MTG is the replacement fluid for GM part #12346190 and Chrysler part #4874459 (Chrysler specification #MS-9070). If you have an amsoil account it's only $10/qt plus shipping. Works great in the nv4500 trans in that diesel truck too. I use amsoil stuff in everything. Their quality...

Stabilizing Cooling Temps With A/C Fan???

Cost of a Supercharger setup vs buying a viper already supercharged

If you step up to a GenIII Coupe you have a Roe twin turbo option as well. With all the Roe systems, if you stay low boost, you can run stock internals. --FQB

What brake pads for (LOW DUST) street use?

You must use care with brake pads. Low dust / ceramic pads simply dust in grey so you don't see it as much. Some of these compounds actually cause you to lose braking ability. Almost as bad they will eat up your rotors. So what looks more crappy ? Black wheels or gouged up rotors ? I...

Chrysler states I do not own my car!!

You know, you guys are unreal. I'm far from rich, I just work hard, save, and pay cash. I work 14 - 18 hours a day and have very few if any days off. I haven't had a real vacation in over 10 years. I buy new cars because I don't want to have to deal with used any more. I keep my cars a long...

Chrysler states I do not own my car!!

+1,000,000 ... There's a number of other benefits to that as well. It's well worth any depreciation hit, and with a well negotiated deal the hit need not be all that big. --FQB
