This is not a track car, way too pretty to tear it up, not to mention warranty implications. Rossion makes Q1R for track, 2000lbs and 300hp 4cyl stripped car. Still trying to figure out where the 450hp rating comes from since I have seen the dyno file for it and it did 430 at the rear wheels...- PeterMJ

After giving it a very serious thought and considering a Gen 5 for a stable mate for my 09 Viper, I finally pulled the trigger and it is not Gen 5. a good aftermarket stereo?
If I recall from my little project, all signal processing, except for fade and balance is done through the OEM amp. If you do a head unit swap, this is pretty basic stuff and wiring harness is available. Pioneer and Alpine make very nice GPS units, you pay more but you get better reliability...- PeterMJ

Are you looking for convenience features or sound quality? Swapping head units will do nothing for sound quality and very likely make it worse, you have to run a good amp and change speakers and subwoofer to improve the sound quality. Interesting comments. I started this thread to simply point out that no comparisons should be made and conclusions drawn until actual performance figures for new Z06 are disclosed. I am not defending the new Viper nor do I rag here on the new Vette but again, at least IMO, the best is to wait...- PeterMJ

The difference between Corvette and Viper is mainly due to lower base price for Corvette. Corvette crowd has no issue with paying for the options since technically speaking, Corvette is that "bargain". I like the way you think:2tu: Oh and AFM and DI together in one car is a recipe for problems (there is an excessive oil consumption problem caused by AFM, just for starters) . A used Gen 5 Viper is a way better bet than any of the latest Corvettes. I'll pass on Camaro and its forums, yikes. :D- PeterMJ

Best to wait and see IF the new Z06 can surpass the last ZR1 before predicting the skies will fall on the latest Viper. I find this negative attitude among Viper enthusiasts taking the superiority of the car that has not been tested yet, rather troubling.:crazy2:- PeterMJ

Swapping cams and heads can hardly be called a tune, especially if you want to remain in compliance with emissions regulations, not to mention any warranty issues. May want to look into front crankshaft seal issues before deciding to force feed that LT1:D Considering the fuel pressures...- PeterMJ

In spite of what many continue to say, the new Corvette cannot be tuned easily, the tables are available but there is nobody out there yet who managed to do a full custom tune across the entire power range. New Z06 will weigh in at the minimum at 3500 lbs, assuming someone buys the stripped version. How on Earth can anyone mistake the new Z, using supercharger and subject to heat soak due to using cheapo air to air integrated intercooler for either the previous NA Z or the current NA Viper escapes...- PeterMJ
