However, you have to brake more often, which builds up heat in the brake pads and rotors, causing them to fade after a few hot laps. Not to mention the loss of high-speed stability incurred by giving up the wings. It will use whatever it needs to use to meet its parameters at the appropriate...
The 6th gear in previous vipers existed solely for increasing highway mpg. Now that they've replaced 6th gear with a shorter ratio, the fuel economy suffers. TANSTAAFL
haha you mean not sanctioned at all?
And hopefully the 10mm wider tires will translate into a wider contact patch and softer rubber. Remember the tires they developed even have different compounds from front to back, specifically designed for this car.
Re: GenV design feature that I'm getting tired seeing copied in vehicle designs latel
you know what i'm tired of? this whole having 4 wheels thing... seems since they started doing it way back when EVERYBODY's doing it! 4 wheels is soooo 1892
Aren't they supposed to have one at VOI? Make her go so she can take a spin in it and enjoy all the nice new features. or you could total your audi so she can't drive it anymore:{)
The next big lighting technology will probably be OLEDS that can be made into any shape. I'm sure there will be people complaining, "where are all the little light bulbs!" and "these OLED thingys are just a fad."
I see black rubber wheels on every four door sedan, japanese import, etc... so apparently your point is just because some technology is used in an unappealing fashion on mass-produced vehicles, it doesn't have any place on a Viper. And as far as LEDs being a fad, they are no more fad than...
You gonna replace them with carbide lamps? The only people I hear complaining about the LEDs are just too damn old to appreciate the technology... You're the same people who complain the bright light button isn't still on the floorboard "where it belongs."
When will you guys quit complaining about LED lights? The integrated units the Gen V uses are much lighter than the previous setup... I thought you guys were all about function over form? Next thing you know, you'll be complaining about those silly pneumatic tires, or those flashy 4-wheel disc...
It will still try to kill them, maybe a little more subtly with the nannies, but 600 lb-ft of torque is enough to put anybody in the hospital if they don't know how to use it properly.
Glad SRT decided to offer separate models instead of a supeposition of the 2. I'm gonna guess the ACR will have the ammenities of the base Viper, with options for even less inside.
From Motor Authority:
"We also learned that the Viper team hasn't taken the new snake to the Nurburgring, yet. But they expect to beat the old Viper's time without a problem when they head back to the 'Ring either in the fall or early spring next year"...
