Personally I think it's a sin not to have rock chips on the front of an ACR from passing people on the track. Unless of course it's clear bra'd.
GET OUT THERE AND GET SOME ROCK CHIPS!!!!
Niche "SUPER" cars usually sell better especially in low numbers when they deliver the shock and awe that people expect. The ACR is worth much more than Dodge is charging for it, so it will fly off the lots. The dealers are obviously slow picking up on this because it wasnt advertised all that...
No one is at fault. They just ran for one day on their own accord, because that's all they needed to "win" but the fact remains that many seconds will come out if they spent more time there testing. That is a FACT.
Another FACT:
The guy who drove the GT-R said he didnt think any more...
What everyone is saying is that the Viper hasnt been driven to it's full potential. I dont care who you are, or what race team, even to F1, you arent going to get the best from your car in 4 laps on one day with a driver new to the car.
Banging off the rev limiter for a large part of the...
Well they just started a deal with Michelin and the ZR-1 tires are already available specifically for the C5 and C6 now. Which is what prompted me to suggest Michelin since they make the MPSC as well.
Goodyear just cant hang in performance.
I agree, I cant beleive Edmunds skipped the ACR...
These arent typical runflats. They are more like the GT-R's tires, only not as soft as Rcompounds or able to be run at slick type tire pressures (29-32 hot) like the GT-R.
There is a new era in runflats. The sidewalls are hard like semi slick and slick tires and they make the tread special...
Well with the C7 now put on hold indefinitely, and essentially putting the Vette in the same situation as the Viper.
So in that case I would expect GM to do a similar thing that DC did to the Viper and make incremental improvements to the C6 chassis. The easiest of which would be the tires...
It will be if they make an optional set of tires and wheels for it.
It's not too uncommon to have a sportier set of optional tires for sports cars.
Considering GM seems intent of fighting this ring war, I wouldnt put it past them to offer a 19 inch wheel set with MPSC down the road. Since...
I doubt it. Obviously the engineer that drove the first time made several mistakes.
There is no need to get defensive here, we all know there is a LOT of time in the bag for the ACR, but it may or may not be able to reach all of it with the gearing issue.
Still, pretty amazing for PS2's. I...
I've seen some times for a CGT, Pagani that have been tested and publish, cant remember exactly how fast but one of em trapped 130+ and went 10.x. What sources are they using to declare this a record?
Edit: here is a test done by Motortrend on the CGT, Enzo and Ford GT.
Ferrari Enzo...
Assuming you plan to drive the ACR like it's meant to be (on track) I would get it serviced anyways as that is not something you'd want to happen at the track. Not only dangerous, but could blow a track weekend costing all the money for fees and such to get in, travel, etc.
I wouldnt be too concerned. I honestly dont think there is any way our domestic car makers will survivie for long with the current lopsided bias in import fees vs other countries. They are esentially being suffocated to death, no access to the cheap labor other companies can access. So unless...
Another question is who would you trust to put the same vigor and keep the same principles with the Viper brand?? It's not like whoever buys the Viper would be buying SRT to go with it. So now the future of the Viper would lie with someone else who would decide where it would go. And the way...
I hope you guys are considering the costs associated with completing a venture of this sort and how it would affect the Viper. First of all, if whoever buys it is not a multi billion dollar company selling tons of other cars, the price of the Viper on it's own would have to skyrocket to make a...
Jamie, I'll give you respect from a future ACR owner perspective, but there is no reason to think the ZR-1 can match the ZCR. And it's not as simple as a change of tires because you cant put equal tires on the ZR-1 without switching wheels, which is too much.
IMO GM has left their fans too...
Not really, the Z06 hasnt even been tested until this year. Prior to the 08 Viper and GTR there wasnt any all around (straight line and handling) competition under 200k. What would GM have needed to improve for?
The only thing the Z06 needs is some better build quality, and a set of good...
The ZR-1 is faster than the 7:26 it ran, but by 3-5 seconds. I suspect it can run 7:22, or maybe a 7:21 with a pro guy in there and Nissan/Porsche time at the ring.
But the ACR with some time at the ring will run 7:15 or so without a doubt. I dont think they should change the gearing, but...
The question is how fast can it get to 180. There are several track in this country that allow speeds over 170 for many of todays cars. As long as it gets there fast, non issue, but if it takes as long as the other cars getting from say 130-200 then it's a problem.
I knew there would be some...
1rst things first. If you go and slap a wing on a base viper and dont add a good coilover unit prior to, you need to examine your priorities. The suspension should come first anyways, in preperation for added DF. So that would make most of this conversation irrelevant because you would alreay...
I doubt you'll get 4 seconds by going to R6's (if that's the hoosier you're talking about) from MPSC. Those are some fast tires when you get them hot. That being said, I do think the car can run sub 2:00 in stock form.
And if it were gutted and turned into a race car. It would be all over.
C&D are only making themselves the laughing stock of the enthusiast world. But it's awesome because simultaneously they are making Road & Track the laughing stock of the enthusiast world.
R&T Tested a GT-R and claimed they ran 1:56 in it on that same configuration, but the same factory...
You are assuming I dont have seat time in a Viper based on what? Whatever that assumption is, it's false, I have enough to know what the car can do. And I actually have the skill to drive it, but that's taken lots of track time and that's something you wont get in a defensive driving class.
