Anyone not receive their ACR lap timer with their new ACR Hardcore?

I am fairly certain the hardcore package uses an AIM lap timer, see owner's manual last page: http://www.kansascityvca.com/ACR_Owners_Manual.pdf I believe this is the timer: AiM Sports - The World Leader in Data Acquisition -David

    Pilot Sport Cups pressure?

29psi cold should be fine on the hwy. I would talk to Archer Racing(John or Russ) when you get to TWS about tire pressures, they can probably give you the best advice. However, in my opinion the 37 psi hot range you ran on the Porsche sounds about right for the Viper. -David

Anyone running ACR size tires on a non ACR?

I believe the original post was inquiring about the PS2 tire in 295 width that is built for Porsche as an OEM tire? If the question is PS2 vs Sport Cup, the answer is easy, if car is primarily street driven get PS2s, if primarily track driven gets Sport Cups. -David

Anyone running ACR size tires on a non ACR?

I believe the ACR sized PS2 tire you are referring to is a Porsche spec tire. I have read that the PS2 sizes for the Viper are a unique PS2 compound for the Viper similar to the Sport Cup compound. If that is correct, than I doubt that you would want to mix tire compounds. -David

    110 oct fuel

The ACRX engine and FGT have forged pistons, the stock Gen IV does not. If the GEN IV had forged pistons then I would agree it could better handle the rigors of road racing. Since it does not I stand by my recommendation to add some race fuel when in doubt. Worst that can happen is it cost you...

    110 oct fuel

My only point is if Vipers are running the Mopar controller in summer heat, pulling 4th gear at 120mph, then a splash of 5 gallons of race fuel is extra insurance. Also if tracking the Gen IV motors why not spend the $20 or so to throw some extra protection at the engine. Also a lot of Viper...

    110 oct fuel

I think if tracking the car adding some race fuel is never a bad idea. Cheap insurance against detonation and considering the Gen IV motor does not use forged pistons, I think it would be money well spent. Mixing 100 would be plenty of insurance, the 110 is more for boosted applications. -David

The guantlet has been laid down for the ACRX: 599XX goes sub-7 mins at Ring

Not sure I agree with this statement: "The Ferrari 599XX is the first ever production-derived sports car to break the 7-minute barrier on the classic 20.832 km Nordschleife circuit, lapping in 6 min 58.16 sec." I think the Viper Comp Coupe is production-derived.

The guantlet has been laid down for the ACRX: 599XX goes sub-7 mins at Ring

A WC Comp Coupe running the new 8.4L motor on Michelins would be faster. An ACRX would be a closer match. Given Laguna times of 1:33 (ACR) and 1:30 (ACRX) and Sebring times of 2:15 (ACR) and 2:09 (ACRX) equates to the ACRX being about 4 to 5% quicker. Applying that to the N-ring and we get...

Today's Standing Mile Results for My SRTC

I think that is the best comparison to make, same track same day. I am in agreement with everyone else that if you want your car to perform well above 160mph you need the 5th gear swap. -David

Today's Standing Mile Results for My SRTC

In Gen 4 Vipers I would expect shifting from 4th to 5th around 165mph to 170mph depending on rear tire selection and assuming you run up to 6400rpm. Given the 585 hp, 133mph 1/4 mile, and knowing how well Gen IV motors perform on road course tracks, I would assume 190mph is reasonable. Comparing...

Can anyone explain why the Mopar ECU takes away popping/cracklin from exhaust?

If you really like popping on decel then pickup an SRT-4 with stage 3 upgrades, run a straight side exhaust, and enjoy. -David

    ACR paint issue

The paint on my 08 and 09 are flawless, from my reviews of the cars thus far. However, my 09 ACR was an early build, before bankruptcy. The only paint issue I have had is the Sport Cup tires sand blast the lower panels, worse behind the front tires than the rears. I have found the PS2 tires are...

Mintex or Hawk HP Plus pads for track day?

Do not buy the Extreme pads for the track, these are street pads. If you want Mintex track pads then buy the F2R pads. Performance Friction PFC-01 pads are also a great choice. You can run stock pads in the rear. -David

Do we know much about the short-throw shifter that the 2010 ACR has?

I am sure it is not the MGW, as I drove both MGW and 2010 shifter equipped vipers on the same day and the MGW was shorter shifting with a notchy feel relative to the 2010 shifter. I am interested to know when the 2010 shifter will be available for purchase? Thanks, David

FS: Gen IV shocks - good upgrade for 03 to 06 Vipers

I am selling a set of Gen IV OEM shocks off my 08 Viper Coupe with less than 500 miles on them. These shocks were tuned for the newer Michelin PS2 tires, so they would be a perfect upgrade for the 03 to 06 cars looking to change to the PS2. I am selling the shocks because I went to Motons as the...

Why not run ACR-X in ALMS?

The ACR-X might be eligible in the future to run GT Challenge class with the Porsche GT3 Cup Cars, but would not be competing directly with the Comp Coupes in GT2 if any were competing.

Why not run ACR-X in ALMS?

At Sebring the Comp Coupes were running a spec tire(VRL) which is closer to a Hoosier R6, both are slower than a Michelin slick. Also Kuno is an SCCA Pro Driver. With that said I was impressed with the ACR-X, it is awesome to see how much performance 110K can buy, and how much potential lies in...

Why not run ACR-X in ALMS?

I do not see the ACR-X being competitive in ALMS GT2 class and would question why a pro team would choose the X over the Comp Coupe unless it was for a spec series, i.e. Viper Cup or Porsche Cup. If ALMS made a class for the car then that would be a great choice at that point. -David
