:lmao:
You must to have that attitude, because you can't be all things to all people.
I'm really amazed at how deep the re-design went. I think I was expecting more of a Gen III - IV effort, maybe in part because all the spy shots showed Gen IV's worked over. I wonder if Sergio really...
Buying one these cars that old is not exactly risk free. A lot can happen to a car in 15 years. A guy here recently had an accident and only then, when working with the insurance company, did he find out it had been previously totaled. I think all the advice to work with one of the respected...
I don't think you have enough cool days in Houston to worry about it. :lmao:
But yeah, even the gen4 will heat up enough that you need AC here and there on a fairly cool day. Usually I just roll down the windows.
I sorta went thought the same issues as you did when choosing between on 06 or 08. I knew I'd have to mod the 06 exhaust to be happy and then probably would want the hood. Add in the other improvements in the 08 and suddenly the price difference is not so much if anything. I have not kept up...
IMHO, I don't see anything to worry about. There are changes, but there is also a lot that is the same. I'm not saying it will be issue free, but I don't see a ton of problems either.
This twitter thing might be catching on.
So can you crash test an early prototype and get enough data out of it? How many Vipers have to hit a wall? :(
What drove the useless near 6th gear in the Gen 4 and what has changed to eliminate it in the Gen 5?
I assumed is was to achieve a maximum MPG and avoid the gas guzzler tax, is the Gen 5 going to exceed the 22.5 MPG required to avoid the tax?
Mamba, I'm coming around to your point of view. It seems to me like SRT the has attacked these perceptions head on.
I'd like to toss out another factor. A new generation of Viper buyers. You see, I know many people were attracted to the Viper because it reminded them of the 60's Muscle...
So someone spoke to Ralph in NYC and he hinted he'd consider releasing the codes for the gen 4
I always assumed it was not up to SRT, that it was an EPA thing. So if allowed, then why not?
I think that is a great idea. I have enjoyed his videos and free advice we get here.. Though my snake probably doesn't show it! :omg: I'll work that out by VOI.
What do we need to do?
Yeah, I completely agree. I've gone from lukewarm to hot in just a few days. My only wish is that SRT open the door to power mods as Ralph hinted at. I can't think of a thing I'd change. l love that the gen 4 looking hood is an option.
I don't cover a lot of sites, but Top Gear UK commenters were Very positive on the Gen V. I still see 120k as pretty rare air for buyers, never mind north of that. So I don't know about troubles keeping up with volume. Eh, I'm on the 2022 list myself. Look for a sweet 08 on the market...
For me, they are close enough.
I know that may sound ignorant, but of all the guesses and concepts out there, Volado almost nailed it. The car from the side is nearly identical. The only significant difference I see is how the vents are cut into the door. Volado used a sweeping curve design...
I think the plastic engine cover is my least favorite change. I thought this thread was a joke at first! Everything on the car is suppose to be functional. That is one of the thing I like. No fake this or that like you see on just about every other car. Except now we get a plastic engine...
I love the looks...
Thought I wouldn't
HP is a disappointment.
So if they will open the door to tuners then I think I can get over the HP.... big if...
I'm not too surprised by the response here. I think expectations were too high. This may under deliver on a few items (HP, single transmission to name a few) but the styling is nice in my opinion. The interior improvements are welcomed.
It is also leaves room for more upgrades along the way.
Gotta admit I was not a fan of the cinderblocks when I saw them there. I think I'd rather put the jack stands all the way up.
I do like the wood blocks as a safety. When I was changing the axels on my wife's Passat and used a few 6x6 blocks under key spots as a backup. Granted it would have...
