I think you underestimate the budgets needed to make sure your brand wins in pro racing series. Besides SRT did pretty awesome for a scratch team starting mid season. Cutting back on the quality of speakers isnt buying you any championships when porsche, bmw and yes probably even corvette...
Dude, can you read? There was nothing mediocre about the cars the Viper has beaten or run with. I was only pointing out to people like you who have no real information yet continue to harp on how untouchable the previous generations were that the Gen V as much of a contender as before, the bar...
Let me clarify as I tried to cram a lot of info into as short a post as possible.
Yes, the Gen 2 comfortably beat the C5Z, but the C5Z was not a world class performer like the C6Z started off as, and has been agree? The Gen 2 was an 11.7, 11.8 @ 119 ish or so car while the C5Z was a 12.1 or so...
Looks like they had some deadlines they werent quite ready for. Why would they send out a car on old hard tires? Thats asking for it. This release has been botched a bit but nothing they cant recover from. Looking forward to some instant changes.
I think overall we are on the same page, but for the sake of argument.
I digress even though the Ford GT in that test was 3/10th's quicker to 60 mph and trapped higher (sounds like a missed/slow shift) somehow allowing the Viper to come back.. No road course comparos at the time, but we would...
You know for every model/brand, there will always be guys who own previous models and want them to stay relevant so they trash the new ones non-stop. Same thing happened with the Gen III, actually probably much much worse than this.
Up until this point? I clearly remember the Gen III getting thrashed by the C6Z. The non ACR Gen IV was neck and neck with it with far better tires (MPSC). About time you go and study up on your history bud. By the time the Viper even came out, the C4 had already been out 10 years, no real...
That's because they are willing to pay the premium for it. Everyone is not. Clearly C&D did not and MT did or just didn't get busted. Some organizers have caved in to 90db for pretty much all of 2013. And even if it wasn't 90 db. The Viper won't likely pass sound with 92,93 or 95 either...
I think laguna lowered the Db limit to 90 for most of 2013 but dont know what they ran it at for this event. They are trying hard to get it shut down out there. Randy obviously didnt lift.
Ok, I thought you may have been confused like the other guy and using that 1:38.7 as proof against the 1:40 the Viper ran with the Journalist driving. Some people don't know the difference.
My bad.
No, that 1:38.7 was with Randy Pobst driving. Randy ran 1:35 in the Gen V while allegedly being scared of the Viper.......
To fuel the fire though the GT500 was on Goodyear F1 supercar street tires vs the claimed R-comps on the Viper. But still, the Viper is faster in the same hands.
:headbang: Good post! Although I stll think the Viper is right on the verge with a few small tweaks. I think SRT have done a great job with their limitations (Ferrari, Budget, Tires).
The car is plenty fast now, and will only get faster. This media lashing is going to hurt a little bit though.
Sounds like a distinct possibility. A little bit of squat, pitch and roll will help put power down, will also make the car more manageable and more confidence inspiring. I would think on a 50/50 weight distribution car, they could get away with some softer springs without overloading the tires...
Agree!!
Yeah, something doesn't sound right with that, in the MT article Randy said the car seemed like it pulled harder than the ZR1, to get obliterated like that after being neck and neck to 100 mph usually means either aero or gearing is holding the Viper back. Something is seriously...
Let's blame Randy Pobst!!!
Oh wait..........
Wow, go figure, same day, same driver, same setups, same track, same time gap. SRT can't keep blaming the driver forever. Put some MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUPS on the Viper please!!!!!!
That's horrible, doubt it looks anything like that. That's a camaro rear end and the Vette doesn't taper from the rear wheels back. That will look horrific on a ZR1 or Z06 with wider fenders.
That car is beautiful!! The terrible look of the camo cars had me worried. Back end looks a little busy, and the car will probably have round tail lights not square ones.
No, not really, better tires means he can corner faster, and therefore get off the brakes earlier, thereby using LESS brake. Not only that, slightly long pedal hasn't stopped anyone from going that fast. They did not say pedal to the floor, or that Randy couldn't make the turn. Get your face...
If you are clueless enough to think that these super modded cars would surpass a manufacturers standards for reliability and government standards for emissions (from a manufacturer), you don't have a clue. SRT doesn't have it as simple as driving through a 5 minute drive thru in one car to pass...
Randy Dominated World Challenge in more than just a Volvo. He made everyone look bad in a Porsche cup car year after year. No cup has won since other than factory porsche works driver patrick long. Randy would still be racking up championships if kapax had not switched to volvos which sucked...
