Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Reading between the lines, my interpretation of that is not good news for the Viper. A ZR-1 on MPSC is going to be a few seconds faster than it was on PS2 in the first test, especially with better gear ratios. I'm actually surprised it wouldn't go even faster than 1:33.7 on those tires with...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Agree with it being a huge victory if the gen v can pull it off. Even on the heels of the top Vette makes for a good pounding with the next acr. How come there is no lap for the non-acr gen iv? That would tell us a lot about the improvements of the base gen v.

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Yes, Pobst would go faster. And it was Chris Winkler, who absolutely obliterated the One Lap of America in the ACR a few years back. He can drive, jut not like Randy. Yes, true, but the ZR-1 has specially made PS2's that were pretty sticky. Even still not as sticky as real mpsc. Those...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Yeah, but the base C7 will appear first with the Z06 a year after that and a ZR1 another year after that. Don't forget the C7 isn't going to add much if any hp so performance could be similar to C6. By the time a Z06 or ZR1 appear there will be a mean and nasty Gen V ACR roaming the planet...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

I zoomed in on the picture on the motor trend site, almost certain those are sport cups, looks like the tread (hard to see) but more than that, lots of rubber stuck to them just like the MPSC I used to run. A ZR1 on MPSC has a very good chance of being ahead of the Winkler driven ACR with Randy...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Don't take anything for granted, remember the ZR-1 improved it's ring time from 7:24 (or something like that) to 7:18 and we know it's technically faster than the Z07 version of the Z06 with the magnetic ride and sport cups on it. That car was only .5 behind the ACR. The first time set on the...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

+1 Randy Pobst > Chris Winkler +1...... Yeah, if they had Dirk Werner driving the 08 to begin with he would have gone faster than the ZR1 has gone. The guy driving the Viper was bouncing off of the rev limiter for a majority of the lap. And it was his first time in the car and I think they...

    1st track test

You can't be paying attention. Look at the list I posted. Same timing procedure. Every car on that list has posted faster times and trap speeds in real life and most in other mag tests. I'll bet you the Gen V posts better numbers within the next few reviews.

    1st track test

It's the street, anything can happen, people are never stock, and hardly anyone tells the truth about their mods. If you show up to a street race meetup with a stock car, you are going to get it handed to you doesn't matter what you drive. The point there is that we've seen higher trap speed...

    1st track test

    Um, yeah, the only problem with your theory is this. On the same track the cars you mentioned trapped. GT500 - 123.5 = 4mph Slower CTS-V - 117.5 = 10 mph slower GT-R - 123.3 = 4 mph slower Z06 - 122.2 and 123.2 = 4-5 mph slower Turbo S - 125.5 = 2 mph slower ZR-1 - 128.3 = 1 mph faster...

    Doomed

I'm not trying to hate on the Gen IV, I'm talking about based on performance numbers only. The magazine bench racers whining about dyno and 0-60's seem to have forgotten that the Gen IV was no world beater. A feat a LOT harder to accomplish these days than it was in the 90's. You might...

This is not all true, there is a chance Porsche may not produce their GT car (Turbo, GT2, GT3) with manuals anymore. Snobs or not, many Porsche guys are purists too and will not accept a flappy paddle gearbox, electric steering, rear wheel steering, torque vectoring and the host of other...

    Doomed

Let's talk about what exactly? A much slower R8, Gallardo? If you wanted to drive around to be seen and not have a real performance car, the Viper wouldn't be a top option anyways. If you are cross shopping a GT-R and Viper, you have an identity crisis at hand. There are Viper die hards who...

    1st track test

True enough. You see many timee where testers get faster times with a manual clutch slip and throttle feather when it comes to rwd. In fact this also occasionally happens with the awd where just flooring it off the line is more effective. But ive rarely seen one this useless to just light the...

Red light to red lightbis where bragging rights come from? Someone tell this dude its the 21 century and no one cares about 0-60 red light times. People hardly even do that anymore unless they are in cars that drive themselves off the line. Launch control on rwd cars is mostly a gimmick...

    1st track test

The Porsche Turbo is awd. Its s lot easier to get good numbers out of on poor surfaces. Rwd cars never set great times on that surface. Its about ZR-1 fast which is what it should be. Anyone who thought it was going to run zomg zr-1 in the dust times has just been dreaming. Im more shocked at...

Re: I'm just gone go ahead and say it.... Man, you sure showed that poser Viper owner what the Viper is really made of by mashing it at a stop light. .......Lol

    NARRA 2013 schedule

From what I heard they were waiting for confirmation from Sebring on the actual date (a couple were possible). He was expecting it last Monday but I guess hasn't got it yet. I sure hope they do get it though. They are being very mum on these other dates.

    R6 vs A6

Depends on the type of HC. There are 4 types, Auto-X, DE, TT and Race. Auto-X is obviously the easiest on the tire, which is why they can get 30-40-50 runs out of a set of tires. TT is next because most times you get probably 2-4 laps and off the track, barely more wear than an Auto-X. DE if...

    R6 vs A6

I've run the A's in hot temps as well, they just aren't as good. They are spectacular in cooler weather. Probably equal to worse than R6 in hotter temps which is why people run R's in the summer. I have a Porsche Turbo that is a dedicated Time Trial car. It's gutted, aero etc. Ran a 1:27.1...
