2006 Coupe Blk/Blk possible odometer fraud

I have had nightmares with Carfax. A few years back we made a mistake entering a customer's mileage on a repair order, 24,000 miles when actual was 2400 miles. Little did we know our contracted invoice software company shared our information with Carfax, it took over a year to correct, our...

1996 GTS automatic belt tensioner pulley failure

Its not a common failure, but the tensioner and belt should be replaced every 30k if you run your hard. You should replace the whole tensioner as sometimes they stick and cause excessive belt tension, loading that plastic pulley more. Your car is going on 18 years old, depending on your mileage...

    Ralph wants/needs an automatic

I think the dual clutch auto would be the only way to go. An automatic with a torque converter would make it less of a sports car, take away some power and would be less modification friendly.

    Heads/Cam or Paxton?

Both NA and SC packages can work really well with the right combination of parts. With an NA package, anything over 580rwhp will require a camshaft profile that will sacrifice the low speed driveability. I have found that camshafts with good low speed cylinder pressure, the right gear and proper...

    Supercharging a GEN 4.

Dan, I will see if Cory can chime in here. No I have never seen a car they supercharged. He had the kit at VOI a few years back, I saw pictures of the installation and dyno sheets. At that time he was doing them in house but wanted to supply a kit. He was not going to get an emissions...

Awesome times, how much boost and what clutch are you using?

    3.55 gears ?

The 3.54 has always been the best all around gear. Many gear ratios are discontinued but we have tried 2.73, 3.21,3.33, 3.45, 3.54,3.73, 3.91, 4.10 and 4.56. Back in the day when we could not get better 5th and 6th gear ratios we would use the 2.73 gears for the top speed cars. When the 3.33 was...

    Supercharging a GEN 4.

Cory at Snake Oyl products has a SC kit for the Gen 4 cars. Internal engine modifications are required as the engine is very knock sensitive, it requires forged pistons and modifications to the intake manifold for proper airflow to the rear cylinders. He worked with Motorola on the engine...

    Polyurethane Bushings Advice

I have not had any luck with Poly/Delron bushings in Viper control arms. The arm will move in the bushing causing alignment change. Stock replacement bushings or changing to a race type monoball setup has been my solution.

2008 Viper Acceleration - "like pullling an old man out of his chair" . . .

If you want to improve just the low rpm response, a lower gear, throttle pedal signal modifier and the Mopar PCM will do the job.

    Motec M150 PNP kit

There are many engine management choices for the Gen 4-5 currently, depending on the application. We have used AEM INFINITY and PECTEL, mostly for Motorsports applications. Two companies are currently testing software to tune the factory Venom controller, expect to see this soon. For the...

Gen 3 Stage 3 JM cylinder heads for sale

Came across a couple sets of new JM Stage 3 heads for the 03-06 Viper. These heads are CNC ported with stainless valves, Phos/Bronze valve guides, Viton valve seals, ductle iron valve seats and performance valve springs and retainers. Combustion chambers are reshaped and matched for 10.0 to 1...

    Belanger header question

The best place for the 02 sensor is at the turn out, where all 5 cylinders come together. The sensor was relocated from the turn out, to one tube in the Belanger headers in 2000. People were getting check engine lights for "O2 sensor heater" when the O2 sensor was placed in the turn out. The...

    Exhaust Manifold / Header Leak

Yes it is common with the 03-06 models. There is a strap welded on the back of the exhaust manifold that keeps the tubes aligned, the manifold cracks where the strap meets a tube. I have found if you weld them up it does not happen again. If you replace with new you might be back in the same...

Let's be real, what would it take? Only short answers please

If the car had more power, better brakes and a paddle shift transmission at a price that would allow current owners to move up. It would be golden. I have had numerous owners that have stepped into the new Viper every generation, but gawked when they would have to come up with 70-90 grand to...

Eibachs with stock 17's? Too low?

Its often tempting to get the lower stance a 1 inch drop will provide, but on a Viper with 17 inch wheels its just too low for the street. The car wont make it out of driveways without scraping and speed bumps are torture. You end up driving the car slower as you are worried about bottoming out...

Left rear hub area makes a distinct "clink" under torque application

We torque those bearings to 250 on the street cars and 300 on the race cars. More than the factory spec. Most likely the noise is play in the snub-axle splines at the wheel. We swap right to left wheel bearings, which switches the pitch of the splines in the hub and gets rid of the noise.

Please, stop bashing the gen v

I have driven and worked on numerous Gen 5's, they are great cars. The issues I have seen are minor and often get resolved properly. Even with some bad press, which is often one sided or reflected by poorly performing abused press cars. This is one amazing car. For those looking for...

Has anyone install the Mopar Performance Part # P5156137 gen4 heads for the gen3

Its a good package, but as a bolt on the same or better gains can be had with modified Gen 3 parts. If you want that package to make real power (I agree with MJ), port the G4 heads and intake, raise the compression 2 tenths of a point, run a little bigger cam, headers and have it custom tuned...

1997 GTS crack on rear upper control arm

If the control arms are not torqued at ride height or the bolts are overtightened this is more likely to happen.

My 2013 GTS by Prefix...a work in progress (pics)

This is a great thread about a custom build, it is what this site is about, our shared passion for these cars. People get excited about this stuff. Heck we only live once, its nice to have a place to talk about it. Seems comments like this kill the whole purpose of participating on the site. My...

My 2013 GTS by Prefix...a work in progress (pics)

This is really a great project, how often do you get a chance to work directly with factory vendors to build a one of a kind car. For those who don't know Bill he has been helping new Viper owners for numerous years. Even though he is in Nebraska, his network expands around the state. Don't be...

    Discolored Rear Calipers

Sounds like you overheated the rear brakes. This is common with track cars. Have them powder coated a darker red, that seems to do the trick.
