    2008 VIPER SHOWN IN MAGAZINE

I like the direction too, but not the distance. If the Vette SS lives up to what is being leaked then it will beat the Viper in all those catagories. It is lighter and has more HP. I see no reason that the Vette won't come through with what they say. The did it with the C6 Z06 even though...

    Selling my 2005 SRT

How much for the retaining wall? That's a keeper!

LMAO! THERE GOES THE $5K TO $10K PREMIUM OVER STICKER ON THE Z06!

I just bought a new 07 Corvette Z51 Coupe in October. At the time the same dealer who gave me a discount on it, and took my Lotus Elise in trade, was asking a $20,000 mark up on the Z06. Since then you can find some Z06s for about $1,500 under MSRP in certain areas of the US. 3 months into the...

    ZO...WHO?

Well, as a prior owner of two Vipers, now on my third Vette, I can tell you that a lot of us are applauding the competition. The more Z06 buyers who defect to the new Viper to get the highest horsepower, the sooner the premiums on the Z06s will go down, and Vette buyers will be able to get a...

LMAO! THERE GOES THE $5K TO $10K PREMIUM OVER STICKER ON THE Z06!

I see this as a win-win. I don't care about horsepower as much as I used to having gone from a 350 hp Vette to a 450 hp 96 Viper to a 505 hp SRT-10 to a 380 hp Ferrari Testarossa, then a 190 hp Lotus Elise, and back to an 07 Z51 C6 Vette coupe. They are all just great, and if I learned...

blue srt 10 convertibles rare ???

I had one lined up at a dealer who requests not to be blown out on the newsgroups, which I will honor, at $66K Ended up going back to Vette this round, but it was a heck of a deal.

Please Forgive Me for I have Sinned!

Interesting. I deep sixed my Ferrari Testarossa, after finding out my dream car was more of a nightmare than a dream. But I went from there to a Lotus Elise, and now to a Z51 Six Speed Lemans Blue Vette. But I'm keeping my Viper leather jacket (even if it is a Sneaky Pete) and other...

The real reason I prefer Viper over Vette

Only 19 on the line at Chevy on Stevens Creek. #20 is the Lemans Blue 07 Z51 6 speed coupe that is now in my garage. And the Z06s are still inside with a 10K mark up. On Capitol Expressway, they have Vipers on the front line, including an 04 that I drove, and several 05s, all of which they...

    Last year for Dodge/Skip Barber

I took the Skip Barber course, and was first up in the Dakota truck. I had taken several schools on motorcycles, and thought I knew how to drive. Particularly as an old guy (then about 52) who was used to recovering slides in my youth. Didn't pause long enough to allow the truck to recover...

Is $66,000 a good price for a 2005 black SRT 10 stock but new?

No problems at all with the Elise. 190 hp 4 cyl Toyota/Yamaha engine and drive train re-engineered by Lotus on a 1975 lb vehicle. Unbelievably good handling. Magical. Very hard to get into and out of for a 56 year old guy with tired knees and back (I save what I can for Aikido) Wife can't...

What will $48,000 buy in a Viper in today's market?

Re: What will $48,000 buy in a Viper in today\'s market? I was having trouble getting in under LWViper so I posted under Elise (my Lotus). Actually found a new 05 Viper for $66K. I am astounded at how inexpensive Gen III vipers are at the moment. An unbelievable bargain. On the other...

Is $66,000 a good price for a 2005 black SRT 10 stock but new?

Thanks eveybody. I did test drive an 05 at Harzheim, but they couldn't reach the out of state deal. However, I decided after driving the Viper and the Lotus back to back that I'm not quite done with the Lotus yet. But I am stunned with what a bargain the left over new Vipers are.

Is $66,000 a good price for a 2005 black SRT 10 stock but new?

I have one located, but am double checking the deal, as I will be taking a MAJOR hit on my Lotus Elise if I do this. Major. Wish I didn't go through the 2003 Viper to Testarossa to Elise circle to get back here. I'm living proof that you "pay to play" But I'm thinking about doing it...

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

Of course you are, it's beautiful. I think the gas caps on the coupes are really terrific looking. Any day you can own a Viper is a good day.

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

As we drove through town I was following right behind him, and really marvelled at how good the car looked, especially low and wide, still very unique and impressive after so many years. But I was surprised at how many people shifted their gaze to my Viper after looking at the TR...

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

The more time I spend in the martial arts the less I find myself trying to discern what a "real martial art" would be. For me, finding something that allows me to center, find a flow, and translates into an ability to re-direct hostile energy in pressure situations while remaining calm, is...

Picked up my "06" all black coupe this morning from Woodhouse!

Bought a used Viper, with an unpleasant surprise!!!!

Up to you, of course, but you might want to rethink this. My 03 had the valve recall when Steve owned it, and while they were doing the valve work, they threw in porting and polishing, and the engine came out with better tolerances, more horsepower and torque per the dyno runs, and was...

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

I find that with the Viper, even though I drove that quite a bit, I ended up putting less than 5,000 miles on it in the year I owned it. And I don't think that I was inclined to leave it at home. But between work, which includes heading onto dirt, or taking people to dinner, which involves...

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

The rear of the car is approximately two inches wider than the rear of the SRT-10 I believe at 77 inches. Someone might double check me on the width of the SRT-10 rear. Additionally, the car sits so low, that it accentuates the already really wide stance.

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

Thanks for your nice comment and that of F355. Appreciated. It is nice to be able to appreciate other marques, even while holding your own marque as the best. I've always preferred that to the "my car is better than yours" style of posting.

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

I'm told that the splined hub, single nut wheels can fall off the car if not properly torqued to 375 pounds, and that it is difficult to change tires. But I really love the look of the single nut. Yes, it would be nice to have larger tires with more choices in performance rubber, but at this...

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

A buddy of mine got one of the first of the 96 Blue GTSs when they were new, and only RT/10 owners could buy them. I remember thinking then that the GTS was great looking. I didn't buy one because I preferred the convertibles, which is still my question mark in owning the TR,whether I will...

Thanks. That experience grows on you. You end up going down, putting up the engine cover, and just looking at the engine.

    Testarossa and Viper comparisons?

I remember when you were considering whether to go to the SRT from your RT/10. I notice that with the Copperhead, you've come down strongly for Viper ownership. The 12 cylinder boxer engine does get a bit more torque than the 355, so that closes the gap a small amount, but not enough to replace...
