    Vipers and Haters

+1 Most any car, if loved by a gear head is cool. I think that if Viper never hit the scene Ford and Chevy would still be putting out the mediocre sports cars they were before then. Chevy seamed to be content with loosing to comparisons with Porsche as long as they were the only American...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Yes, I'm aware. That one article pointed this out too. I glazed over it though. Saw the 46.5 degrees and didn't see the uncorrected 44.5 @.050. Oops. Should be roughly a 50 degree disparity between .050 and .000. VP97, do have this info?

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Yes, this is what I was referring to as "over square" engine by de stroking it. I didn't know there were any Vipers that did this yet. I've read about some corvettes doing it with great results though. Very cool. Good info. If you have more details on this guys setup I would love to hear it.

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Yes, i anticipate burning rediculous amounts of money building my dream car. Im sure there are many other pricey details to hash out. Time is money and I dont plan selling this car anytime soon. Hee-hee, manors....not in my vocabulary. :drive:

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

If you haven't already, check out 345sbespinnin youtube vids with his greg good heads/cam 3rd gen. He is posting 165's in his half mile events and just a few ticks off 200 at the Texas mile (he has a vid showing speedometer going over 200 at the event but I remember reading something he posted...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Yes, I didn't expect to run into any real issues with just heads/cam in regards to intake manifold flow. Like you said it's good to 600's at least. My next planned stage however I expect it to be an issue as I am shooting for an all out NA build utilizing water/meth, high compression and built...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

If I punched all the numbers in right your DCR is something like 9.16. I was using the calculator off of http://members.uia.net/pkelley2/DynamicCR.html at the bottom of the page. Very interesting. Your dyno sheets are very impressive. Any time slips? I'd love to see your trap speeds. You...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

For the immediate future I am going to stick with the stock manifold due to funds and the extensive time needed to research and test a properly sorted intake setup. I fully plan to go with a custom manifold in the future though. Again, much research is needed for this and I am hoping Engine...

Great insight. To clarify, these are stock heads ported by JM not street Strikers yes?

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Cool. Thanks for the info. Seems like the 190 cranking compression works for many here. I will be running exclusively 93 oct here in Texas. Would you by chance know what the ICL and lobe separation is on the 2000 stock cam?

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Well, actually yes, the heads I am waiting to ship are Striker streets. Guess I should have mentioned that considering different design from stock like spark plug location and such. I think I bought the last ones on the market. So, your setup would be of high interest. 10 years ago I was a...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Good info. Thanks. Do you know when your intake valve closes After Bottom Dead Center (ABDC)? If you have that info I can calculate the DCR. Hey, I went to Marcus HS. Lived in Lewisville most my childhood. I live in Greenville TX. now.

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Sorry, I have a hard time getting time to post. I read your thread before I posted this and it does have good info in it. It doesn't have quite what I'm hunting for though. I'm looking for the Dynamic Compression Ratio. I'm sure you know, but for anyone who doesn't, this is the compression...

    Dynamic compression ratios DCR

Good day gents. A few questions: 1) Do any of you know the DCR of the stock 2000 motor? 2)Specifically to my cammed NA gen 2 viper owners, do any of you know the DCR you are running? If so, could you elaborate on your setup such as if your bottom end is stock, worked or aftermarket heads...

Old Mopar wires vs. Quality Wires

Good call on the ground. I checked it and though it was connected it looked as though the post was a touch loose. I will see if tightening fixes this. As far as Magnacor's write up, it is an interesting read but I think it is a sales pitch more than anything. Much of the write up is taking...

Old Mopar wires vs. Quality Wires

Check resistance on them. If the resistance looks like my old ones in the first post then you should replace them. Mine were running fine for the 4000 miles i had them untill a short time ago i noticed a lack of power every now and then at full throttle. Went to check my plugs and the first...

Old Mopar wires vs. Quality Wires

Good to go. 8.5mm is large. I'm pretty sure the stock Mopars and the Quality Wires are both smaller. So you are saying your MSD's lasted 4 years without fail? How many miles is that? I think Mopar also makes a set of 8.5mm and Magnecore as well. They probably don't fit the stock wire clips...

Old Mopar wires vs. Quality Wires

That is good. And yes, the less resistance the better. A touch more info though. How long was the msd you shot and what gauge? Did they come cut to length or were they all same length? Resistance is a major factor but there are other important factors. The biggest in particular to our cars is...

Old Mopar wires vs. Quality Wires

No prob. In about 5000 miles i will reshoot them and post any degradation. Darth, i have never heard of this interference but now you mention it i did notice a uniform static on all my radio stations. I will see if that goes away depending on where i am while driving. If it never leaves then...

Old Mopar wires vs. Quality Wires

Thought I'd share some data I collected changing my plug wires. I purchased my 2000 Viper RT-10 at ~29,000 miles. I don't know if the factory Mopar wires have ever been changed but I changed them today at 33,180 miles. I went to check my plugs and the first wire (#1) I went to pull broke in...

    Air cleaner assembly fasteners

They were rusted and siezed tight. Got them removed with a bit of penetrant lube and channel locks but boogered them up doing so. Tried using a towel to soften the bite of the channel locks but I think it only helped a little. One of them wouldnt let go of the clip nut and ripped trough the...

    Air cleaner assembly fasteners

Ok then. I'll assume they are not reverse threaded. Maybe some penetrant lube will help then. I think you are right about them being stripped. I mean, the torque on them is just too much for plastic. My chanel locks arent even getting the job done. They are starting to tear at the plastic. Thanks.
