Doug Levin\'s Super Charged ACR Viper..I drove it!!
Guys and Gals:
I was going to Miami to vist a friend of mine. I figured since I was down there, I would meet up with this guy I instant message every once in a while. Yeah, we would kid with each other and say stupid things to make us laugh. Doug has been very helpful with info about Vipers like Jon B is. I have never rode in a forced induction Viper until this past weekend.
I met Doug for lunch and we ate and yip yapped. I asked Doug if I could see his shop. He said "Okay let's go". ( By the way, he had a busy schedule that day). But he accomodated me. I heard Doug fire up his ACR and all I heard was a stock sounding Viper. You couldn't tell there was a supercharger on it! Now when Doug gave it some gas, WOW! It sounded like a mad tornado whooshing by! I followed Doug in my "Little RT/10" to a gas station. Doug filled up while I sat behind his ACR. He got into his Viper and then got out. He walked towards me and with a smile, said "let's trade cars". I was like yeah...right! hehe! But he was serious. I got out of my Viper and my friend that was with me got into the Doug's car too.
I proceeded to follow Doug over to his new shop. I had a chance to give the car a little gas and wham! The car took off like a bat out of hell! The most awsome thing about this car was that it felt smoother than the stock Viper it's self. My friend Mike who was with me who is a big German fan. ( He's German that's why)he loves the 911 twin turbos' and he will never admit that there was a car better and smoother than that porsche. I looked over as I hit the gas and all I saw on his face a a big grin ear to ear! I couldn't believe that he said these words "This car would kill a 911 porsche in smoothness and power". Car Viper was very responsive with just about no lag time. This car is fun to drive but not to be underestimated at all!
I have had powerful twin turbo imports and rode in other supercharged cars, but nothing compares with Doug's cars. When Doug say's his cars are everyday driver friendly vehicles, he's not joking!
The cool thing about Doug is that he started everything from scratch! He gave me a tour of his shop and cars that were in the proccess of being modded and also showed me the video of his wreck corvette. Man! I don't know how he survived that, but it sent chills down my back watching that run and the nasty out come of it.
Doug is a perfectionist in a good way. He hand makes all of his parts and takes time to polish and every detail is not overlooked. When you open up Doug's cars, the polished tubes look like a big snake all curled up and fits perfectly inside the engine compartment. It's a fricking piece of art work in there!!!!!!!!
For the guys who have the cars in Doug's shop..I just want to confirm you are in good hands!! When I get my GenII Viper, it's going to go to Doug's Viper school to get a make over!
Does Doug over do some of his engineering on his Vipers? I'm sure he does, but at lease he can stand behind what he makes and walk away and feel confident that his stuff won't break. I wish Dodge would take some of the same attitude that Doug has. Doug! thanks for the tour and meeting with me at the last minute! I promise you I will be a customer!! I keep my promises too! hehe! Man! I still get shivers thinking about the Supercharged Viper. I can't wait to get mine installed!
Oh, by the way..Doug did not asked me to write this. I wrote this out of respect for Doug's Art work! He's an awesome guy...you outta meet him! Okay Doug..I hope you read this..it's a bit long, but I will keep in touch with you.
-the Hatian guy..hehe! (personal joke)
