Gen 1 vs. Gen 2 soft top

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify if a soft top is for a Gen 1 car or a Gen 2 car and also which Gen top a 1996 RT/10 would use. I purchased what I was told was a gen 1 soft top and never installed it on my 1996 RT/10. I have since sold the 96 and then sold my top to another person with the same car I had. He is now telling me it doesn't fit (says it is too short). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
