How much freon??? ....Mr. Tator...Mr. Jenkins...anyone..anyone?

Hello,
I drove my snake (94 RT/10) to work today (Cadillac Dealer) because the A/C isnt blowing very cold...Just wondering how many pounds of freon it takes to fill it...(R134...R12???)....
I dont have my shop manual with me....
Can anyone help....??
Any tricks to filling it that a decent Tech wouldnt be aware of?

I think it took me 3 cans of R134 to fill my GenII. Just make sure the tech uses a pressure gauge... I've seen some just put R134 in until it blows cold. NOT good!

I can't remember the PSI, but I want to say somewhere around 35-40. The gauge should be color coded though. Avoid the red and yellow. Green and blue are OK, I think, but double check with your tech!

If I were you, I'd go to Wal-mart to buy the self-fill kit. It's only $35. Are you sure that nothing else is wrong with your AC system?

I am not sure it isnt leaking...The A/C got warm when I got stuck in traffic (Imagine that in L.A....) I had the hardtop and side curtains on and it was begining to feel like a sauna inside. I just figured I would top it off this time and see how it goes.

GenI's hold 34oz of R134. No tricks, but you might as well put a dye in the system to help you find the leak.
