More Racers Needed!

All,
The Corvette & Viper dragraces at Famoso are going to be canceled if we don't dig up another 10 participants! Surely there are a few other Vipers in the CA/NV/AZ area who can make the trip out and have a full day of racing? If you're out there on the bench, get over to The Race Thread and sign up now! Otherwise, we'll lose this great opportunity...

I will make every effort to join y'all for the autocross. It will be my 2nd 'cross ever, and my first in the Viper, so I'm not expecting great things -- but any racing is fun, even the slow-speed stuff

In the "turnabout is fair play" category, are you going to join the fun at Famoso on 8/18?

Great! This event is a lot more than an autocross, It is an opportunity to discuss Vipers with Dan Cragin, Ted May, (John of HMS was invited and almost came but the event date did not work for him) and owners interested in performance. It is about enjoying life with people who have the same love that you have, the Viper. e-mail me your fax # or e-mail so I can send you the forms for registration. Just fax them to Fiona. We start Friday night telling stories, etc. at the reception.

I like drag racing but do not like replacing tranny's. My last drag race was at VOI6 in a Viper supplied by Dodge. It was a 96 factory car heading for auction. This unit had hard miles but turned a 12.48 & 118. Jon B. might remember as were pretty close and Bontempi beat us with a 12:38 or so, all of us in a factory car. But I would consider a Wed. night or Sat. at Sears Point if you want to work on a Viper-Vette Challenge event. Come to our next meeting and bring it up for discussion. We (N CA VCA) did a Sat. Viper Club Vette challenge. Made 2 runs and the rain came. Again 12.48 118 was my time in a stock 97 GTS. What are the safety requirements vs ET's? 11.5 what is required? etc. Hate to make one run and not meet the safety spec's to continue.

NHRA safety requirements (which I'm told will NOT be strictly enforced at Famoso, but are at all Bay Area dragstrips) for Vipers:

<14 sec: hardtop or roll cage, helmet, long pants
<12 sec: Above, plus roll bar with sidebar & 5-point belts
<11 sec: Above, plus SFI spec transmission shield or blanket, fire jacket, SFI spec crank balancer (balancer requirement rarely enforced)
