Now that it appears that the first 06 SRT-10s have either arrived or about to arrive at dealers, can someone tell me whether the OEM, factory-fill motor oil is Mobil 1 synthetic 0w-40? I believe an earlier post said this was the oil for the 05 cars and that a switch to this oil had been made between the 03 and 04 model years. Can someone confirm? Thanks.

I believe that the factory fill for Vipers is now 0W-40 Mobil 1 - 2005 and 2006. No reason not to use it in any Viper for that matter. Some of our oil experts here said that it does indeed offer better properties for the Viper, especially in start-up conditions. Being the cheapskate I am, I was buying it at Walmart until they stopped carrying it. No worries, I bugged the auto manager there so much that they now carry it again - and brought in eight cases of the stuff. $4.29 a quart.

Note that the Mobil 1 ad in the latest VIPER magazine shows 0W-40 as the factory fill as well. I am sure that Pemberton can confirm.

Well it must be a fact as all UK Vipers and I suspect euro cars are 0-40 and have been for the last 10 years with no problem.

Thats straight from DC in the UK
