Ohio Get Together!

I would like to put a get together for VIPER owners in the Ohio area while the weather is still nice. I live in the Beavercreek/Dayton area.
I have talked to the people at the local Quaker Steak and Lube (Beavercreek Location) and they will give us Private parking and our own room to get together.
If anyone is interested and/or have a good time let me know.

I'll be glad to come if someone picks me up - Centerville, Ohio. I have a broken right foot and my foot and lower leg are in a cast and I can't drive. If the get together is in December, I may have the cast off and then I can drive myself.

Sounds like a plan! If I can't drive my Viper, I wouldn't mind being a passenger in my own Viper while Bobby works the wheel and pedals!

We tried to do a Viper get together 11/8/03 at Fuddruckers on the east side of Columbus, Temperature in the 30's and only two Vipers were there me and Jim Metheney and our wives. There was one other person that came, didn't see our cars and left! Our northern region is doing something this weekend in the Akron area, contact Les Hopkins :[email protected]

Kenny, I received the message Monday night about the get together on Saturday. Good timing. Sam has always been good about letting us know when he does though, so I am sure he didn't have much notice either.
Maybe we can make the southern division of the Ohio VCA the area that ROCKS! We need some cruises and fun days this summer whether the rest of the state is in on it or not.

I got the big cast off of my foot and lower leg yesterday and now have a different cast on that can be taken off for driving my Viper.

And now I have nowhere to go.

BTW - In 3 weeks I should be free of the new cast, too.

Ok, so it's really only about one week away. It seems some people just can't make it the 22nd, and some the 23rd. This is not to anger anyone but if you all really want one, you're just going to have to make a decision. have one cruise, or have two. But fact is it's gonna be damn near impossible ot make everyone happy with the date.

The 11/8/03 date wasn't short notice, only the location was decided a few days before and emails were sent to those that I had "good" emails for. Prior to the emails, I only had one person contact me to find out where the dinner was!!! I assumed that there wasn't any interest, but still went ahead and we had two Vipers! If you guys are trying to find an "IDEAL" date that works for everyone, it won't happen. If someone wants to be at an event they will find a way to get there. Of the 150 paid members in Ohio, only about 1/3 give emails or phone numbers when they send in their dues. I spend about 8-10 hours on each issue of the newsletter and send them out to about 200 people. When I sent out the emails about 20 of the 75 I had came back as undeliverable. Hint: when you change your ISP let people know or stop crying about not getting notices for events!!! I suspect that most glance at the newsletter and then throw it away. There is a schedule of events in each newsletter. I have had people tell me that they didn't know about an event when it has been in the newsletter for 6 months or more. Also, most of our major events are listed in the VCA calendar. As they say, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink!!! Anyone that has attended any Ohio events knows that we spend a lot of time, effort and money to put on first class events. Check with anyone that came to our big blowout in Norwalk in September. If you are not an Ohio VCA member, then the only way for you to see our events is to check the VCA Ohio Calendar. We are trying to update our website and get it easier to update, this may solve part of the communication problem. Not trying to make anyone mad, just trying to vent a little!

Sam - There is nothing listed in the Events calendar for November 2003 at the Ohio VCA site (and nothing in October, either). I get the fine newsletter that you send to me, but the "Regional Dinners, November 8 We would like to have three regional dinners, November 8, 2003. North, Central and South. If you have any ideas or a favorite restaurant call one of the board members near you and help plan the evening. since the weather will be unpredictable, Vipers wil be optional. Maybe an informal cruise to locations? See you there!

When I saw Makenzie's photo, I totally forgot about anything else in your fine newsletter. i suspect most everyone else did as well.

Maybe if you said Makenzie would be appearing at one of the dinners...

Kenny, Your comments are all correct! There wasn't any info in the calendar because the events were up in the air until the last minute. Locations were not known and the response from so few didn't warrant any postings. I sent out the emails as a reminder and as I said earlier, about 20 emails were undeliverable. I suspect that I don't have a good email from you, if you didn't get the email. I get most of them from VCA National or from people that email them to me. I didn't get anyone from the emails that responded to me and only one phone call in the time that the newsletter was out wanting to know where it was. Perhaps the lack of detail was the reason there was no interest??

We are trying to get the info together for a Caribbean Cruise (Boat not Vipers) around the end of Feb. 2004. There are about 4 couples committed so far, rates will be in the $700-$1000 per person range for the 8 day cruise. It is on Carnival Legend and is being organized by Hemmings Motor News Magazine.

Sam - I ususally get Ohio VCA e-mails, but this time I don't remember getting one, but I probably was under prescription narcotic pain pills for most of October - I can't remember for some reason. I was not able to drive until November 13th - that's when I got a cast that I can take off to drive - and hopefully it will go bye-bye forever in 2 1/2 weeks. My e-mail address is [email protected].

Yes, Sam - it was eyestrain - you didn't enlarge the photo of Makenzie big enough.

I am feeling quite a bit better now, thank you.

Unfortunately, my wife will probably have an operation around the end of Feb. 2004 and will be off of work for several months, so we won't be able to go cruisin' on a boat. Even if Makenzie is on the boat.

BTW - Makenzie is a great young lady and Venmous (Chic) will make a great slave (husband) to her when they tie one on...er, I mean tie the knot.
