You guys that are running the side exhaust, what mufflers are you using? What is the quietest muffler that will fit? I am running a borla, and have tried another straight through muffler design. Both are extremely loud. I am looking for something I can put on that is a little more cruise friendly.
Any suggestions??

BTW Running the exhasut is not an option or I would do it in a heartbeat.

I am running B&B headers, roe high flow cats and borlas on my side conversion gts. At first it was pretty loud and the resonance/droning actually hurt after a long spirited drive. I have since added Vortex muffler cones which has helped with the drone and quieted it up a bit.

I'm sorta looking for something quiet for my SRT, but I don't want cats. I think I want to keep my cake and eat it too! How well do those vortex cones work? Has anyone had their car on a dyno before and after those things? They look pretty restrictive!

I jsut bought a set or vortex cones off of ebay. I will be putting those in soon. Hopefully that will help a bit, but i have a feeling it will not.

If it was possible to run my exhaust out the rear I would in a heartbeat. There is a fuel pump the size of a 2liter bottle, a swirl tank, and 10' of -12 line back where the pipes used to run.

I am running the Roe Racing HF cats and mufflers (borla) on my 95. The sound is great while cruising around town. However, I have to admit on a long drive at highway speeds, the noise can be anoying.

Quick and Cheap solution.....keep earplugs in the glove box for sustained highway drives. Pros.....gives us the best of both worlds (loud when we want it, quitet when we don't). Cons..........difficult to have a conversation with the passenger (maybe this is not so bad afterall....just kidding). :usa:

It seems like there has to be a good compromise for flow and sound out there. I want to do a Roe blower, but want to keep the exhaust quiet. I'm thinking something like high flow cat followed by two mufflers. I would gladly trade 15 HP for the noise reduction. Is there a real system that flows enough not to heat up using a blower but allows earplugless drives?

Please let us know the sound difference with the vortex cones. I am in the process of building a 3" exhaust for my 92-1/2 Viper using a Dytatech High Flow Cat and Borla XR1 Sportsman Muffler. I may try to leave enough room so that if the system is too loud, I can add a Moroso Spiral Flow Muffler (only $47 from Jegs) behind the Borla - thus keeping the system straight through.

Loud would be OK - but obnoxious may be just a bit too much.

Ok guys i got some ideas. Thanks for all of the PM's and ideas here. I ordered some more parts today and will be redoing the exhasut soon. Hopefully I will have very positive results and still retain minimal backpressure.
