I realize that this is very obviously a scam to most (a white mamba for $45K???), but I figured it was worth posting just in case someone might fall for this.
Here's the ad on AutoTrader.com
Note the fact that, although not mentioned anywhere in the ad, this car is a "White Mamba" special edition as evidenced by the red interior...
I checked and the area code matches the location given, so this person did their homework.
Also, the retail value on a 2004 SRT-10 with 30K miles is $64K (as estimated by kbb.com)
Now, here's the response I received after sending a message through the autotrader reply function (I edited the addresses just in case someone accidentally clicked on them)

Hello,
I'm very glad you are interested in buying my car.
It is a great car. Excellent condition.
Here are the selling conditions :
1) Before I ship/drive and/or meet you for inspection the car to you I request a minimum deposit of $9000.
2) We will use an escrow service which will take care of this $9000 deposit.
My lawyers advised that through an escrow company is the best way to close expensive deals.
Here is the link: hxxp://www.motorescrow.com
The fees are very low (0.75%).
I'm already a member of them ([email protected] is my registered email address).
Also you can check my rating (7 positive transactions and none of them negative) by clicking "CHECK AN USER RATING" from their home page (just enter my email).
Here is how we will proceed:
1) start the transaction with me (or I can start it as a seller if you want, just let me know).
2) secure $9000 to escrow (it will act as a third party securing the funds).
3) after you make the deposit, I will ship/drive the car for inspection to you.
IMPORTANT: When you start the transaction , write the first deposit value ($9000), not the total price of the vehicle, we will transact only the first deposit through the escrow service.
After you will approve the car, you will have to wire the balance to me and also tell escrow to release the secured funds to me.
This is the only way I can close this deal with you.
I'm a busy doctor and I can not meet all my potential buyers.
After the deposit is confirmed ,we can move forward.
Best Regards,
STEPHANI A RENNER.
PS: If you will refuse the car after the inspection period (which can be up to 31 days), escrow will return your money back (FULL REFUND) and also you will have to return the car to me.

Obviously a scam, its just funny how something with a "too good" price that forgets to mention the car is a special edition wants a deposit up front. Many people think escrow companies are safe, but that's a huge myth. Besides, the buyer should pick the escrow company, not the seller...
