I am wondering where the speedometer recalibration box would hook up to. This is used after a non-stock gear is installed. Does it hook into the PCM? My Viper is in the dealer right now for service. The PCM had an internal failure and the dealer says there is a little black box that has been hard wired into the PCM. After market gears were installed by the previous owner of my Viper, and I am wondering if this is a speedometer recalibration box or maybe some kind of add on performance module. The housing on the little black box melted and the dealer feels that is why the PCM failed.

It's probably the speedo calibration box. I've seen some melted ones from being mounted too close to exhaust. It is wired to pcm.
Possibly could cause pcm failure. If you need a new one, call Devon at Unitrax.(vendors page)dj
