What is purpose of anti-reverb canister?

I own a Gen I 94RT.What does that do? I want to install smooth tubes. Can the anti-reverb be removed and if so will it change anything?

It won't change a thing. Take it off, put it on a shelf and install smooth tubes and filters.

Thanks, that's what I tought. But what was it's purpose, anyway, just to fill the space!!

Controls noise...government thing or something back when it was built. Remove it, mine is in basement.
