My dyno shop, R&D Dyno in Gardena, does a lot of work for Halltech's customers here in SoCal; therefore, there are a bunch of Z06 data points in R&D's database. The range of dyno numbers for 2001 Z06's is 335-345 rwhp (my Z06, regrettably, being at the low end of that range, though given the 424 rwhp dyno result for my stock Viper, I'm not complaining overall). At 15% drive train loss, this comes to 395-405 fwhp.

Thus, GM doesn't need to do much other than adjust their performance claim for the 2002 Z06. There is much speculation, many believing that GM will not have two different engines for the F- and Y-bodies. Therefore, some expect that the Camaro, Firebird, and non-Z06 Vettes will be offered only with the LS6 in 2002, and the Z06 will perhaps get a more aggressive cam for 10 additional hp.

In any case, the Chapter III viper will kick a$$ on all of the above!
