I have done this several times:

1st Gear: 60 MPH
2nd Gear: 85 MPH + 25 (from last gear)
3rd Gear: 120 MPH + 35 (from last gear)
4th Gear: 145 MPH + 25 (from last gear)

Why the 3rd gear jump (of 35 MPH through the gear ... vs 25 for other 2?)

The car is stock. I may have pushed close to 90 in 2nd, but seemed to be bigger MPH differential in 3rd gear ... than 2nd or 4th and curious WHY?

Stock, I thought 4th was good for about 155-160?

I have 3.55's now and can still pull 135 in 4th.

Stock gears are good for clsoe to 160 in 4th,
even with my 3:33's I hit 140ish in 4th

Top speeds in gears for Gen III cars with stock tires are more like, 60, 90, 120, 160 mph.

I was under the impression that 03 - 06 Vipers needed to shift into 2nd before hitting 60MPH.

Is that assumption incorrect?

I have an 05 and haven't tried this so uninformed as of this post.

Thanks guys - just basing on red light / 6000 rpm ... and knowing actually maxing out HP, etc before 6000.

Per Viper X, it is about right except for 4th gear which I have done several times and not sure why I am not even at 150 before having to upshift. I will try again with that gear in mind - thanks for input all.

PS to Viper X - what are 5th and 6th gears top speeds in these cars?

It is a conv, is it possible wind resistance was why I was maxing before 150 in 4th? I always have the top down ... and the top boot on it (covering the top).

The top boot (no matter how tightly tucked) flails when I get to about 145-150 or so. I recall taking it off twice when going to 165 or so (for testing with other purposes in mind).

PLENTY of simple calculators on the net to help you all come to this same conclusion (correct answer).

Tire size is correct for the 345/30-19 stock on gen 3s
But here is the one I use for people wanting to use it, and play with different gear ratios like 3.33, 3.45, 4.11, etc... even the NEW HOTNESS 3.21 !!!

SS #670 with MM6 manual and GU6 3.42 gears

29.3 - MPH gain from 1st through end of 2nd gear
32.8 - """"""""""""""""" 2nd """""""""""""""" 3rd gear
36.4 - """"""""""""""""" 3rd """""""""""""""" 4th gear

Not sure how much wind resistance factors in ... at whatever point (obviously increasing in it's effects).
