Hood pad is discolored on the corners....

After i washed my car a few days ago, i noticed the hood pad is becoming discolored on the edges. The color is a somewhat rusty color. Not exactly sure. I have never noticed this before. I was thinking it could be from the heat. Anybody notice anything similar?

It could very easily be from your water. Is the water you are using going through a softener? If not try using soft water and see if the rust coloration goes away.

thanks..i think it is from water sitting on top of the hood pad after a wash. I'll try the soft water.
