Just curious, but how many miles to a tank do you get? I know the 94 Viper has a 22 gallon gas tank. How many miles to a tank do you think the car will get on the highway?

With my 94, I got 23-24 miles to the gallon on the freeway, long trip being nice. Not bad for 488 cubes!!!!!
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

that was before I started modding tho. :D

I can go through a tank of gas in less than 45mins on a track or I can get 300+ miles. It totally depends on your driving.
6th gear at the posted limit, my car is running about 1200rpm. You could almost drive all day at that rate, but that's no damn fun!

Slightly off topic but do programmable engine management systems (e.g. VEC-2) tend to improve fuel efficiency off throttle on Vipers? I know that on my previous car it did dramatically.

I want to know with all highway in 6th at 75 mph. Just driving, no racing or anything...
Well, it depends on the year of your car (don't see it in your profile or signature). Gen I cars had a larger tank (83.5 liters/21.7 gal) - I know I could get a bit more than 400 miles on the tank of my '95. Best mileage I saw with it was 22.9 mpg running in 6th. Gen II cars have a smaller tank (72 liters / 18.7 gal), but get similar mileage (best I've seen so far in my '00 has been 23.1 mpg). So, the range for the gen I with my best economy would have been 497 miles, and 432 miles with the gen II. For what its worth...

I went on a trip that was 268 miles and it burned 75% of a tank, trip was 95% highway and speeds were over 100 mph most of the time.

highway miles are really not bad considering its a v10

I guess I have a real gas guzzler. City/Highway combo I've been getting about 170 miles per tank. I know my speedo is off a bit(10MPH) so I guess that effects the odometer as well but I'm suprised my mileage is so much lower than every one else's.

Well, the key is "city/highway combo". The only way you'll ever get anything around 350/400 miles from a tank is 6th gear, 60-80 mph, and no bursts to 150, no goosing it, etc. Likely very few will ever see this, unless they do what some of us have done, which is to take a cross country trip in the car...

I get about 100-125 per tank, usually average about 10 miles per gallon, I drive like I stole it.. last time I filled up i got 8 miles to the gallon, that was all city. I hate sitting at a red light, you can almost watch the needle sink

I get about 175 miles out of 15 gallons around town, best on highway was 300 miles running fifth gear and 80mph on 15 gallons.

160 miles every time from in-town driving. Did twice that with stock gearing on the one long freeway trip I ever made.

How do the new gears effect fuel economy?

i got stock headers, corsa, rt hi flows, k&n carbon kit, with a 3.55 gear and if I drive like Grandma Moses I will get 160miles per tank. The 3.55gear is the culprit, I used to get 270-300 prior to the switchout.

I have yet to go on a trip where I'm almost exclusively in 6th at 60+ mph, but I've had a few times where that was the primary content of the trip. I've calculated about 21 mpg max.

City-only, I get about 12 mpg. City-highway, 15. All highway, 20. Not bad at all, considering every SUV owner who asks about it is all of a sudden cursing themselves for owning an SUV instead of a Viper. Then they hate it even more when they find out my insurance is cheaper!

My Corvette with a 15 gallon tank would go about 320 miles to a tank city/highway, with the supercharger and 8 (lol) 42# injectors it now gets about 280-300.
