I have a chance to buy a 2000 ACR for about 35K. Car has 19000 miles and looks perfect. Comfort package included. What do you guys think.
Im thinking it sounds like a good deal.
Thanks
Being new to this forum, was there any issues with the 2000 Viper.

What's included in the comfort package :dunno:?

Make sure to have a viper tech look it over before your final decision.

They throw the ac back in the car for i think it was 1100 dollar option. Cant imagine the car without ac.

Like they've said, sounds like a great deal if the car is clean and well maintained. I paid @ 39K for an 01 ACR with 9.5K miles a few months ago. Lots of extras and Stoptech brakes, but your example sound very good also. Good luck! Prepare to get bitten! I already have headers and new highflows on the way!

Another question on the ACR. Were the stripes on the car a option, or a dealer install. On the ACR im looking at, there are no racing stripes on the car. Just wondering.

Stripes were a factory available option, but not all cars had them

Also in the comfort group is the stereo, can't forget that!

Sounds good! The funny thing about 2000 gts is that people point out the 2 same things, no abs,, which any Viper before 2001 dont have and then forged internals, which was still an improvement from the week head gasket eating machine of the gen 1s. If you get a 2001-02 with abs then you get that cream puff engine...This means by that thinking, no gen1 or 2 would be good.I really like my 2000 gts, and think that is a great deal !

K&N filter, smooth tubes, Dynamic Suspensions dampers with rebound, compression and height adjustments, less insulation for weight savings, stereo and a/c were options, and BBS wheels. Think that's about it.

Unless you plan on doing nitrous or high boost then the cast pistons will be just fine.

5 point harnesses, ACR oil-filter bypass, ACR badging.

ETA: And as far as I've ever heard, there was no less insulation in the ACR. All of the weight savings was made through different components.

I would agree with everyone else and say that is a really good deal depending on the condition of the car. You said the car is located in Texas. There are a lot of people on here that might check out the car for you if you are a serious buyer. Plus don't forget to have a Viper Tech look over the car before buying. If the car is in Houston and you want someone to look at it PM me.

Sounds like a bargain to me, I'd never let mine go for that, but then again I'm assuming the car looks like mine. Early 2000 ACR's came with the Koni Race set up, later (mid year approx March) 2000's came with the Dynamic shocks. Though so many people bag on the 2000 cast pistons, they actually make great N/A power. Tighter tolerances as well as a longer rod and lighter piston combo made for more potential power.

Things to check for which are ACR specific.........leaky shocks (very expensive).
Make sure it hasn't been wrecked, you'd be surprised how many have been. Texas is one of those states where titles get washed and come out looking fresh, be aware.

I think the 99-2000 has the Koni dampers, not the Dynamic.

COMPLETEY WRONG, gen 1/2 have forged internals making them more desirable for some. not all, just some.

im not saying the 2000 isnt a GREAT car. but it is a slightly odd year in that it doesn't have ABS like the 2001 + and it doesn't have the forged rods/pistons of the 1999 and down. I think this needs to be pointed out to someone thinking of buying one.

IMO, if you dont care about the lack of forged parts, usually you want ABS. making the 2000 slightly odd, not bad at all, just odd.

like camfab said they make plenty of power and are great cars. but usually people want an ABS car or a forged engine parts car, one or the other. non forged (creampuffs) can be boosted but not nearly as much and with less margin for error compared to the forged cars. but the forged cars lack ABS

its called a creampuff for a reason but it doesnt mean its bad.

My new 2000 ACR has Koni adj shocks (other than JonBs sale price they're supposed to be over $3,000 each) being as it's the first 6 months of 2000 manufacture date. My forged BBS ACR wheels have been chromed. Venom rear spoiler, Paxton sc, Corsa exhaust, Hi-flow cats, Nitrous Oxide, C02 chiller intercooler system, etc. and the asking price was $48K with 21,000 miles. Price was lowered a bit and I had to buy tires to get out of town, but I really needed a Holiday :) Buy buy buy! 3,000 miles to drive it home.

Red is the ACR Paxton and the Sapphire GTS is a forged piston Roe supercharged car!
