I'm planning out a trip to head up to see the Indy 500 race on May 27th, and then run the Power Tour from Detroit to Dallas from June 2nd thru June 9th. There are still plenty of good seats available for the 500. Front straight seats as high or low as you want to sit for around $90 and lower. Between the race and the start of the power tour I'm open for whatever, but I'd like to see a few of the car museums in Detroit, and maybe pay a visit to the CAAP!! :drive:
The Power Tour has early registration for only $80 right now as well.

I wanted to jump on here and see if anyone wanted to join in on 1 or both events. Another plus is that this years Gumball 3000 rally will be stopping off in Indy to see the race. So we'd get to see a few Bugatti's and plenty of other amazing cars.

It looks like openning day is May 12th. If that's when your event is, then I'll miss out on that due to work. Maybe I can meet up with a few of you guys though once I make it up there.

Yes. that is the date. I'm about 120 miles from the track and have no desire to take my Viper in to 500 race day traffic and parking.
Last year we met outside of Indy had a police escorted cruise in to the Brickyard Restaurant for lunch, then on to the track where we went to the museum and looked at the opening day car show in the infield while I our cars in in special area with a police guard. We also had a police guard on our cars at lunch.
Great day lots of fun.

Yeah, I was wondering about the driving conditions to the track. I'll work a little more on it and get more stuff planned out for it.

This will be my 8th Power Tour, 7 of them long haul. PM me your email address, the wives got together last weekend and planned out our hotels for the trip. I'd be happy to share it with you, and it will save you hours of planning.

flatblack, while I will NOT be attending either event mentioned above in your opening post, I can put you ( and any other Viper Club Member) in touch with someone who can help you get to the Indy 500 in fine style. This has been done for many events...500, F 1, Brickyard 400, etc.

Feel free to contact me if you (and/or anyone else) want to know more.

As previously noted by jwolf, last year we did attend Opening Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and had a great time. We will repeat this event this year...I know as I AM the "arranger" of same.

Opening Day and the Indy 500 Race are separated by 2 weeks.

TWO important suggestions:

I would recommend only ONE thread on this as confusion will arise with multiple threads (keep this one as it contains more dialogue).

Also, you may wish to have a sneak peak at the website of the group who can get you into the Indy 500 Race:

I got to thinking if you want to do some track stuff the
The Midwest Musclecar Challenge is May 26th and 27th.

It's lots of fun and great food. Putnam is a nice track and my region of SCCA puts on the autocross on Sunday.

By popular demand we are bringing back The Midwest Musclecar Challenge. This is a four-element event open to any domestic model year vehicles. The event will be run on May 26th & 27th atbMid-American Air Center, located in Lawrenceville, Illinois. The four elements include road course, street driving, autocross and a speed-stop challenge.[/FONT]

Sunday morning promises lots of activity for the day and the Mid-American Air Center is the ideal location to continue the high-octane extravaganza! The nearly unlimited size of the Air Center allows for the creation of a one-of-a-kind Bowler Performance Transmissions Autocross course that will thrill both the drivers and spectators and push the entries to the ragged edge of performance. The Baer Brake speed-stop challenge also promises to be an exciting event as we test the limits of acceleration, braking and driver skills all at the same time! The “stop box” will be the ultimate proof of mechanical functionality and driver talent."

Well, I just got an update from my job, and it looks like I'll have to be working during the week of the power tour now. If I am able to fly back to Dallas, I wouldn't arrive until June 8th. If I can fly back, then I'll be in my viper and maybe I can still meet up with some of you guys for a few days.
I really wish I couldve ran the tour this year, but it's not gonna work out for me. Silver04, I'd still like to hang out though if you can manage.

Bummer about the change in plans but work's work.

Still seeing if this'll work with the fam-fam schedule. We have a Viper Round-up in Austin end of March and VOI in Sept that I am heading to so it might be kinda tight...we'll see.

If you still make it to Indy, there are several of us that would get together with you. Vipers in Broad Ripple is an awesome sight! Maybe we will even invite DP Viper out, if you can stand "bass-boat green".:crazy2:

Then I'll see you in Austin and in Charlotte this year! I can't wait for the Round Up. I love the Austin area!
