Nice work, but I'm not a fan of the shark fin / batmobile style. Only thing I'd request is safe vert, either rollbar or like the RT/10 style, for rollover protection.

Oh, and sorry to disapree but after 3 viper verts now, the one thing I hate is that it doesn't have the coupe rear, and the Gen5's strongest feature is the rear, I'd be very very disappointed if the Gen5 vert ends up with a soft rear design like previous verts. We've had to rely on aftermarket kits to make the viper butt look as nice as the coupe's.

I'm with you but at least 50% of the Viper nation likes the different rear. I've always liked both.

Verts should always have their own look... and they do.
I like what you did with the fins. The red one looks particularly good with that styling. I'm a fan of throw-back designs. Nice!:2tu: :2tu:

It looks like a coupe with the top sawzawed off. What an artistic vision...


I cant wait to see what the SRT crew has in store for us. Im sure it will be an improvement over the chrysler sebring-esque rear of the Gen3 Vert.

I hope they consider making it a hard top vert ... I think that would be super popular :) Much like the Ferrari California but half the price!

I'm undecided on that idea. I'm not sure if I'd like it or not. I will say this though...the notion of it will go over like a fart in church with most of the members here.

You think? I think the clean double bubble could be kept in a hard top vert design ... Something that can't be done on a soft top :)

That is the exact reason that I like the idea, but most of the members are not wanting to deviate from what the Gen III and Gen IV were. My big complaint is the added weight. The Viper already needed to go on a diet to be on par with the ZR1 and Z06 in the weight department. Hell, I still think the Z06 is lighter. That is why the Z06 had such impressive stock 1/4 mile times. The Gen V Viper will be a vast improvement and will definitely be able to achieve mid to high 10 second 1/4 times. I think I would be for it, but only if the Viper lost weight somewhere else and didn't increase its overall weight. However, developing this would be very costly and I am already uneasy of the idea of a Viper that costs more than $120k.

Hmmmm... You do bring up some good points.

I wouldn't mind the added weight, but I know many would.

Just trying to think about how to keep the clean lines for a vert :)

I'll likely end up going base if I order a Gen V ... I'll keep & track the Gen III i own, and DD the Gen V (thus the reason why I wouldn't mind the added weight)

Who knows ... We're likely 2-3 years out from even seeing a vert ....

I like the soft top and want it still to be manual - light and simple. I also happen to like the "sebring rear" but the coupe rear does look good and is probably more functional in terms of aerodynamics or high speed stability.

I will say it again, the gen 1/2 sportsbar design needs to return with a similar looking rear end.

EXACTLY!!! I've owned 7 convertibles and automatic tops are overrated. They are often problematic, add lots of weight, and extremely costly to fix! Love the manual top on my Gen III though--simple and effective.
