Use a name brand full synthetic, no question. My Gen III specs 0W-40, Mobil 1 was factory fill. I am using this wt oil in my DD Mopars that spec'd 10w-30 to simplify things.
For non-Vipers that have cylinder deactivation, stick with the viscosity the manuals specify for proper operation.
This forum was the subject of conversation with a VCA member, who is held in high regard by the Forums and SRT just yesterday, at our local VCA meeting.
He is a true professional in all ways and has helped out so many people there is no way to count them. However, these are my thoughts...
Doug,
Regarding the DSE battery cover installation project, I had noticed the OEM cover was allowing fine dust to by-pass the factory seal material. The carpet insert on my Coupe has some kind of "flexible" backing as opposed to raw carpet. It needed to be cleaned to make sure it didn't scratch...
As it was time to replace the battery, it was the right time to install a DSE battery cover plate. With my coupe, the 1/4 turn fasteners snugged up in the trial fitting and required no further adjustment to fit with the plate. The final step was to tighten them up via wrench.
Nice part...
Thanks for the quick delivery. That is one beautiful part, the satin powder coat is awesome. My OEM torx bolts need to be replaced, so I can avoid that now. Can't wait to do the installation.
Super job on the design and the 1/4 turn aerospace fastners!
thanks much, bb
The SSG is a favorite of mine, really would like to have it. Just wondered if I would ever get tired of it. VV Orange is fantastic too. I like them with or without stripes. Good luck finding the perfect fit. The Wheels do make a difference in the overall look. However, that too is...
I do not look at this as SRT messed up in any fashion. They redesinged the entire SRT product line after re-structuing the company in record time. The new 8.4L has stronger internals with increased HP and Torque. To certify the car for 50 state emissions there has to be a drop dead date ahead...
The Clamp End is not available separately from Mopar. (I have seen those "lead free" type clamps at O'Reilly's. Almost the same as the OEM terminal).
Viper Parts of America has a negative battery cable assembly for $12.95. The cable is very short and has the terminal with it so the cost is low...
