    Steering Rack - Dakota?

    FWIW, I had a damaged rack on my 1997 many years ago and had heard the rack was the same on the Dakota. I bought a used Dakota rack at the time, it was not the same. I dont recall what was different. There might be shared parts in them, but they are directly interchangeable.

    My guess is someone wanted better traction in the rear so they went with a smaller diameter wheel in the back to get more sidewall (the more sidewall, the better they hook). Were there drag radials on those 17" rear wheels?

    I have no issue with Dodge building such an animal, in fact I do... Just call it something other than a Viper! Honestly I think they should retire the Viper name, unless they plan on doing another V10 (with the engine in the front).
